When I was a kid I always fantasized about a movie like The Final Countdown but for the Texas Revolution. A platoon of US Army soldiers stumbles back in time arriving at The Alamo days before the Mexican attack. They set up M-60 MGs on the Chapel wall and mow down row after row of Santa Anna's soldiers while the others pick apart the remains with fire from their M-16s. In my Childhood imagination the Sarge is instructing Davy Crockett how to handle a modern rifle and he lays down ol Betsy and goes full auto from the hip.

It's not exactly that, but you should read Daniel Da Cruz's 1980s Texas sci-fi series.

…or have the Nimitz pop an 800 kt nuke directly over the Japanese fleet at about 30,000' altitude as they're about to launch the first wave. Then sit back and watch…

Your move Yamamoto…

Holy ***** I thought I was the only one that ever read "The Ayes of Texas"! There's TWO sequels?!? I read this back at A&M in 93 I think, and it was ****ing awesome, if a bit far-fetched.

Dungeon Crawler Carl can wait! I know what my next 2 books are gonna be. Thanks man, you just made my day!

I think the 2nd one is not very good, but the third one is OK. I haven't read the 2nd or 3rd one in forever, but I think the third one has a pretty cool ending that really vibes with technology today.

If I ever won the power ball I'd finance the first one being made into a movie with an all-Texan cast, maybe have Ethan Hawke play Gwilliam Forte. I just want to see the Battleship Texas riding a tidal wave destroying Soviet warships with invisible lasers before I die, is that too much to ask?
