Sean Connery. As already mentioned the scene trying to escape from the self caused inferno is terrific.
My personal favorite is:
Henry Sr: "I didn't know you could fly a plane"
Indy: "Fly yes"
Releases plan from Zeppelin
Indy: "Land no"

The interactions between Connery and Ford easily make the Last Crusade my favorite. Connery probably the best character of the movie.

Last Crusade is great, but Raiders is a perfect movie.

I suspect you'll find there's a split between Raiders and Last Crusades.

My top 3 favorite movies of all time: The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. So no, can't agree. But Raiders and Crusade are closer than, say, Empire and Jedi.

Ah, that TexAgs definitive All statement.

Nope, I actually like CS better than ToD.

What is this "Crystal Skull" you speak of?

Temple of doom was fun for what it was.

It was more fun than Last Crusade but Last Crusade was a better movie.

Technically never said that fans agreed that CS was the worst. But factually, it is. By a wide margin.

TLC has always been my favorite - but think it is just because of my age. I saw it in the theater when I was 11 or 12 and it was an amazing experience. Raiders was before my time and don't think I appreciated it on VHS like I should have.

ToD was fun for a 7 year old and I have nostalgia for it now. I clearly recall the dinner scene being the hot topic at the 2nd grade lunch table. I had a fantastic metal ToD lunchbox that I was super proud of.

factually,
Another definitive word.

I don't doubt that if there was some poll conducted that went to everyone who has ever seen the IJ movies, Crystal Skull would not fare well.

For me, the movie worked on a level far below the first and third - it had good moments sprinkled throughout, but it had some WTF stuff in there that is just not found in the first and third. Indiana Jones movies have always required a suspension of belief in some respects, but even when suspending that belief, there was some thought that, yeah, I *can* see that **maybe** happening. i.e., riding along beneath a truck on a dirt road to get to the back of the truck, so that you can then climb back into the truck to take out the evil Nazi driving the thing. Probably not coming out of that one, but I believe a case can be made for it.

Contrast that with a couple of scenes from Crystal Skull and Temple of Doom: (a) climbing into a lead-lined refrigerator to survive a nuclear blast? What, is the lead-lined refrigerator gonna protect you like it does Superman from Kryptonite? (b) Surviving - first, a dive out a 6-floor high building into the back seat of a car, then surviving leaping out of a crashing Ford Tri-Motor in an inflatable raft, and finally, surviving riding that raft right over a very tall cliff. Uh huh.

But for Crystal Skull, I did like the grave robber idea contrasted against archaeology, I liked the 50s setting and the interrogation by the FBI who gave us an idea of what Indiana Jones was up to during WWII, and I loved bringing back Marion Ravenwood. I also don't find it outrageous that he knocked her up and she kept that fact from him. And, despite the prevailing opinion on Shia whatever his name is, his somewhat annoying character is >> than the very annoying Short Round.

Raiders is great because it's such a stripped-down, every scene counts kind of film, just like ANH and Jaws from the guys who created it. No dilly-dallying, all plot and story moving forward.

Last Crusade is for me, probably more rewatchable than Raiders, because it's Indy nostalgia and has a brilliant performance from Sean Connery. I don't know that I've ever enjoyed him more in a film other than maybe in Red October as the first Scottish captain of a Russian nuclear sub.

Temple of Doom is good when I want to scare my kids and show them why they can't watch every movie. One of my daughters was always saying she wanted to watch IT and kept bothering her sister about the clown. So we let her watch the first 5 minute a couple of years ago - when Pennywise rips Georgie apart. She has not spoken of it since.

Not a troll. As a kid, The monkey brain scene and the heart scene were the greatest things I had ever seen on a movie screen.

But the ending would have happened regardless of Indy being in the movie

I love Last Crusade, but it's always a bit of a kick in the nuts when I remember I have sit through that opening scene with young Indy, which is a slog.

The backstory that nobody really wanted. Did we really need to know where he got the jacket, fedora, whip, and face scar?
