Changing "real Americans heros" to "real men of genius" was the worst thing to come out of 9/11.

So, NOT the thousands of deaths?
No, the worst part was the hypocrisy.maroon barchetta said:Duncan Idaho said:Claude! said:

The deaths were the cause not the outcome.
Shocking I know. You can be upset with the event and still believe our collective reaction was ridiculous overboard.
The vast vast majority of posters on this site feel the same way about covid. I.e 3000 deaths a day was sad, but our reaction to them was ridiculously overboard.

I know this is difficult to follow for someone that is clearly this trigger.
The deaths caused our collective reaction. Our collective reaction including over fetishizing first responders to the point of having to reimagining a beer commercial was ridiculously over the top.

I always think about this commercial from Chrysler when it aired during the 2011 Super Bowl. Things were on the upswing from the 2008 recession, but so many things still felt uncertain. I remember it resonated so well with the moment in time. Regardless of the fact I'd never been to Detroit, wasn't a Chrysler fan, not particularly an Eminem fan, etc, it struck a cord of respect and pride for me.
