and is there any way around this without putting a firestick or apple TV into it?

I bought a big VIZIO 4k TV bc I got a great deal on it. love the TV except ESPN app is not an option.

I'd suggest Roku. Ran into the same problem with my Sharp TV. Their app library is locked down to only a few. Didn't have hulu, hbomax ,etc.

Same problem with my LG OLED. Tons of apps but no ESPN.

ESPN has a hard enough time making their app not blow chunks on all the platforms they're already on, plus I'd bet they're paranoid of on tv apps getting hacked and used for piracy since I'd imagine their firmware is updated much less often compared to platforms like Roku or game consoles. I know NBC Sports disabled EPL games and nothing else on a bunch of Fire stick models because of that.

I may have to do this before football season

I have 2 vizio p series quantum x tvs and have never used their native apps. Use fire sticks and no issues

It's a game changer even for College Baseball which I never got into until I could watch 4 games at once
