Did I miss some bad press regarding him?

For a while, he seemed to be on fire with popularity but lately, he doesn't seem too busy. Did the Magnificent 7 hurt him that bad?

I don't think he has said anything definitely conservative, but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. My feeling is that he would have to pull a Baldwin or Spacey to really have a hard time getting roles.

I imagine he's just being a bit more selective with his roles.

He and his wife have four kids and it appears several grandkids. Highly involved in his devotion to Christ. Highly involved in charities (in particular military and historically black US colleges).

Dude is living life exactly the way he wants to, as you allude to.

Exactly. I think it's more of an almost retirement. Great career obviously.

I'd much rather people do this and quietly fade away than Eastwood or DeNiro who embarrass themselves on screen at this point

Has Denzel ever had a performance where critics concidered it "phoned in"? Cause while not every movie the guys been in has been 100% awesome (but a majority do seem to be) he ALWAYS seems be throwing everything he's got into a role…..that's got to get tiring after a while.
