Feels like a return to complete normalcy.

Tomorrow, the local Cinemark (for some reason) is showing the Director's Cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (I'm one of 3 people on Planet Earth who likes this movie). I truly love going to see the movies of my prime youth years (10-18) again on the big screen any chance I get.

Tuesday night, seeing Facing Nolan. This is a one night only showing. Baseball documentary about my favorite pitcher, and I would argue the best ever, Nolan Ryan.

Friday night - Top Gun Maverick. IMAX screen that I did not know existed in Richmond, TX at the Regal theater in the Pecan Grove area.

Would like to add for Friday night, but will probably push to Saturday - Obi Wan on Disney+.

Saw something about it right about the time MLB season started, but had forgotten about it. Until last night, while eating at a local Tex-Mex place, saw a commercial for it on the TV they had in their bar area. Got tickets as soon as I got home.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture has been modified to some extent. I've seen it a bunch of times since first seeing it way back in December 1979. There was a vignette prior to the movie regarding some digital shots inserted or replacing original shots, down to the point where the digital artists got access to the original Enterprise model so as to replicate everything on screen down to the most minute detail. The font used in the main credits seem to have been spiffed up.

Some of the visual effects, particular matte paintings, remain as bad as they were in 1979. The story holds up as a classic Star Trek story, and yes, it remains a pretty slow movie, but like I said, I'm one of a very few people who actually enjoys this movie (there were actually 5 other people in the theater this afternoon).

The score remains among Jerry Goldsmith's best work.

The Starfleet uniforms in this Star Trek movie still suck wet donkey butt.

A good friend of mine (and Aggie) shot Facing Nolan and I've hung out with the director on multiple occasions. Both are great guys. Looking forward to finally checking it out.

I love it, but then I sometimes really enjoy slowly paced movies.

Facing Nolan was very well done. A great trip down memory lane. And I actually learned something - that Nolan Ryan appeared in a soap opera while he was with the Angels.
