This movie is a product of expectations created by Ragnarok, which I believe is one of the top three MCU movies. If this movie came after Thor 1 & 2, the buzz would be a lot better. The expectations for it were really unrealistic, especially given the knowledge that the GotG would be in it as well (on that note - it really was a bummer that the GotG were an afterthought and really didn't offer much, even knowing they wouldn't be in it that long).
I do think this movie falls short of Ragnarok, but is still way above Thor 1 & 2. Bale, Hemsworth and Crowe were phenomenal. Thompson's performance wasn't as good as Ragnarok, but I feel like she wasn't given the time to shine. Portman was hit and miss in a lot of her scenes, and really was more comfortable with the previous direction of Thor films - as she struggled to keep up with Hemsworth in some of the slapstick scenes. I thought their story was a good one though. I am done with Korg though and felt his schtick really didn't add too much to the story and was where I saw a lot of the attempted humor dropping off.
This is still a movie you want to see in the theater, and is in the upper half to third of Marvel movies as a whole.
