I hadn't heard about the movie, but my mom wanted to take me. The title did not work excite me- ET? My mom said it was a space movie "like Star Wars". My expectations were wildly off target. I ended up liking it because the kids were my age and there was an alien. But I always remember spending most of the movie waiting for light sabers and space ships and stuff.

Pizza Hut was the tits in the 90s. We used to go there on Sundays for family dinner. What the hell happened?

Not to derail but PH was our family's go to for every after graduation meal (either Bryan or University DR). High school or college. We literally probably did 20+ graduation parties there since the mid 80s. We were upset to see it go and last couple graduations we've talked about going out to the Caldwell one but haven't

and yeah, what the hell did happen to Pizza Hut?

The one where I grew up was notorious for doing nasty things to your order before delivering, basically killed any desire I had of ever going there. But as a kid I loved blowing 5 bucks in quarters playing Tekken and then getting a pan pizza.

tbf, I believe there was a shot or two of Elliot playing with his Star Wars action figures and a couple of Star Wars ships hanging from the ceiling.

I saw it the weekend it came out. I was 26 at the time. I thought it was incredibly overhyped and overrated and I still feel that way 40 years later. I know I'm in the minority.

Can we get a sequel with grandpa ET?

Does Henry Thomas still live at Walden Pond?

I should love it considering I was 3 when it came out, but I've never been able to get into it. I showed it to my kids recently, and I still feel the same way.

Not quite a sequel but there was this from a couple years ago. I enjoyed it.

Didn't realize the cast had reunited a few times.

I saw it as a teenager, and it's one of the few movies I remember ever getting "engrossed" in. No matter what's happening in most movies, I rarely forget they're just actors and it's all fake. For some reason, not this movie.

We still laugh about this to this day

My aunt went to go see ET and wanted to beat the rush leaving so she started to walk out when it looked like ET died. So she ended up watching the last part of the movie standing by the door with my cousins.

It is still kind of a running joke anytime she leaves the room during a TV show or game.

Henry Thomas used to live in Dallas and was a regular at a place I went to often In the early 90s. He was a little odd but a nice human.

I remember playing that game over and over with my mom and sister. We enjoyed it, I guess because we didn't know any better.

I actually met him at a party in College Station...nice guy, shy. I think he was going to Blinn (at least that was the rumor) or he had a friend at the party and that's why he was there. This was back in '91 or sometime around then.

I believe he was there around the time of the Olsen twins.

But seriously, I do know he attended Blinn.

Get your facts straight! It wasn't the Olsen twins, it was Mark-Paul Gosselaar and the dorky kid from Weird Science.

My sister ran into him at a bar or some place in Aggieland about that time frame and got his autograph. Which she then gave to me. I didn't tell her I didn't care about his signature.

My dad did this same thing at the Terminator because he was jonsing so bad for a cigarette, left when Arnold gets out the exploded 18 wheeler and falls to the ground. He told us to stay put and he would come back at the end of the credits. He came back in just in time to witness his 10 and 13 year old sons hear Linda Hamilton say, "you're terminated, f88cker!"

Except Henry Thomas really did go to Blinn (I think his girlfriend at the time was at A&M) and the dude from Weird Science really was a prof at A&M.

+1 for ET scaring the absolute S out of me as a child. Apparently it was my night to sleep on the bottom bunk and I threw such a fit about ET coming to get me that I eventually got spanked (but then got to move to the top bunk because I was so legitimately freaked out). Good times.

Also, I've never seen that audition tape. Holy crap that is amazing!

Crazy that Henry Thomas and Zach Morris both dated Olsen twins at A&M
