Looks like sensationalized horse**** to me. Anybody watched it? Really just seems like an attempt to fearmonger about nuke plants.

Edit: I enjoy learning about nuclear power, but it seems like Netflix is trying to use TMI to make a show similar to Chernobyl, when they aren't even in the same stratosphere of disaster events. That's why I might have come in a little hot.

This is why I do not and will never take the enviro wackos seriously. they push solar and wind even though they will not pay for themselves and will not meet the constantly growing demand of the world market. The new concepts for Thorium and Salt reactors are beyond safe, some are even incapable of melting down and they are feasible to supply the world with all the power we could want. This doesn't even consider the research in to fusion which has even more potential.

The argument against nuclear is emotional, plain and simple. The real reason why they aren't made is that democrats and they're handlers are not invested in nuclear, but they are in "green energy".

I will comment before watching and then watch the trailer. But the way the officials involved handled 3MI was terrible. If they portray it that way - a small actual incident, a larger potential incident, and a really botched PR approach - then I think it'll be worthwhile.

But since this is the gold standard incident for avoiding real conversation about nuclear power, I'm not optimistic.

I'm not watching it because it feels like yet another episodic docuseries that could have been a documentary movie.

I watched it, and it's mostly this.

Gets into some real weirdo territory with one guy, but it's mostly about the lack of communications between the company, the government, and the public.

And yeah, like 50% of it is pointless.

I used to love documentaries and even some docuseries, but ever since Tiger King I feel like they want to make every documentary an unnecessarily long docuseries. Worse yet the new trend to make them more than one season so you get a pointless and unresolved ending (eg The Vow on HBO about the NXIUM cult).

So would you say the trailer is a little misleading? It sure paints a picture about the government and the nuclear industry without actually saying anything specific. I could accept a provacative trailer if the actual series tries is less biased.

Yeah, it sucks. I don't blame the directors though, just trying to get paid and streaming services are looking for the next viral documentary hit.

I wouldn't say it's misleading because it's trying to highlight the most dramatic parts. It's also going to be a little inherently biased because I don't think the company involved agreed to do any interviews so most of the people interviewed are on one side.

The government guy (not in the trailer) is probably my favorite guy in the whole thing though.

I'm a pretty big pro-nuke guy and i thought it was a decent watch, especially the first episode and a half or so. But the anti-nuke people in it are a little dramatic, but they were personally affected and are obviously emotional about the whole thing so I kinda get it.

I didn't think it was bad. Could have been shorter but that's pretty much everything on tv now. They did dramatic re-enactments, which I don't love but I think most audiences prefer that to the Ken Burns style.

We made it through 1 episode, which was them showing every single resident with 500 miles saying the exact same thing. It was horribly boring and repetitive and we weren't about to sign up for another hour of info that could be covered in 1 minute.

I watched it and found myself rolling my eyes a bit but overall it wasn't bad.

I had no clue what happened out there and there was some interesting info included.

This was all covered in The Pepsi Syndrome on SNL in the 70's.

The same people scared of nuclear are the same people 100 years ago saying electricity would kill us all.

Netflix should just show this. Much more informative.

Btw, if anyone wants to bing YouTube, Illinois energy prof has the best videos regarding nuclear reactors.

Any show like this that comes out, will forever be held against the standard Chernobyl set.

My Aunt and Uncle lived near three mile island back then, Aunt was knocked up with one of my cousins at the time. She was on the local news, it'd be cool if she was on that show.

Could see TMI from their yard but they didn't live super close.

I had to read this three times before I realized nothing incestuous was going on

Why make a documentary when you can make a docuseries!
