What about "Hell is for Children?"

Benatar, 69, recently told USA Today that she will not be singing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" at her concerts moving forward because she believes the song is disrespectful to those who have been impacted by mass shootings. While she acknowledged that she's gotten backlash from some fans for not performing the song, she's standing by what she describes as her "small protest."
"We're not doing 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' and fans are having a heart attack and I'm like, I'm sorry, in deference to the victims of the families of these mass shootings, I'm not singing it," she said. "I tell them, if you want to hear the song, go home and listen to it."

Sounds like she was looking for a reason to finally stop singing that **** and found it.

Get rid of "Love is a Battlefield" too.

Not because of shootings, because it sucks.

Wildly idiotic. If more people fought the way she suggested rather than immediately turning to guns and knives the world would be a much better place.

I think she's a bit misguided here but at least she has good intentions behind it. The responses on this thread are mostly embarrassing.

You should stop posting in deference to the families of the embarrassed TA'ers.

I would wager there is probably one Pat Benatar fan at most on this thread. I certainly am not one. This decision of hers, however ridiculous it may be, will have zero affect on the people crying about it. So why do you care?

I'm sure the families in Uvalde are waking up with intense peace and courage knowing that a 70 year old will no longer perform a boxing metaphor song at concerts

i always thought it was a female empowerment song reminding young ladies they can fight back against men known to be a-holes, and that women can take any **** that a man can dish out.

Looking at the track list for her Greatest Hits album release in 2005 there are probably 8 songs that causal radio listeners from the 80s would remember including even deeper cuts like Shadows of the Night and We Belong. She was kind of a bridge between Linda Ronstadt and Joan Jett. But more MTV friendly. There's a reason she was admitted into the Rock and Roll HoF a while back.

I went to her concert last year. I have no idea how she can look out at her crowd night after night and think removing that song helps at all. No one in that audience is under 50. People paying $100 or so per ticket to hear "We Belong" and "Hell is for Children" have no overlap with anyone considering a heinous act of violence. In fact, in the last 30 years no mass shooter has ever attended a Pat Benatar concert. Probably.

I'm not saying she doesn't have plenty of fans. I was just saying that I highly doubt any of the people complaining about this here are among them.

The lyrics referring to heart break are also insensitive to those with cardiac health problems and all artists should remove those references from their music immediately.
