I read the book and actually have a text going with friends about how much we didn't like it.

Heard the movie isn't great

It wasn't terrible but wasn't great. I'd put it in a well done Nicholas Sparks movie category. Don't mean that as a compliment.

It would have been a top tier straight to streaming movie.

Lack of plausibility really handicapped this movie.
A girl who was completely uneducated from age of 5 becomes a leading naturalist because her jungle boyfriend teaches her to read a few dr Seuss books

I tend to hit the movies on Tuesday afternoon because it is discount time. That also happens to be the time the older, retired women hit the movies. If all I knew about movie attendance was based on what older women are watching, I would have believed Crawdads and Mrs. Harris goes to Paris were outdoing Maverick. So many women slowly moving through the theater.

Sometimes you see a trailer and instantly know that it's going to be a terrible movie that every basic ***** on your timeliness hypes.

Movie was decent. Probably a better rental. Wife is happy. Mission accomplished.

Fun fact: The woman who wrote this, along with her ex-husband helped lead a group of paramilitary anti-poachers that went around murdering poachers in Zambia, and her stepson literally murdered one in front of a camera that was then aired on ABC back in the mid-90s. She and her ex husband are still wanted for questioning regarding the murder.

My wife gave me a synopsis of the book similar to this.

After about a 5 min explanation I waved my hand and said no thanks. She didn't like the book.

Yeah that story is way better than the book and movie

Wow, that's messed up. The video of the ABC story is crazy.
