We have enjoyed ours, but as the kids upgraded their cell phone, they really haven't played it much.

When we pull the oculus out, people have always enjoyed playing on it.

Same.
Ours go on spurts, and will play, and then put it down for months.

It's fun for parties and the like though too.

I'd look at the game catalogue and see if they have what you're after OP. First person shooters are much more prevalent than say, RPGs.

Apple's new AR/VR headset is releasing early next year and is supposed to be a game-changer/blow the Oculus away. It's also rumored to be around $3K, so do with that information what you will.

At that price point it will be years before it has any significant adoption (read: games).

And typically Apple's "game changing" technology is tech that has existed for years just put in a prettier, more expensive package.

Apple getting into the industry is a good thing, but I wouldn't wait around for anything great from them in their first outing.

Apparently the cheaper, lighter, consumer-friendly version will hit in 2025. The 2023 version will be the expensive version they'll essentially use to work out all the kinks, establish all the third-party software, etc.

Yeah I read that. Excited about them entering the industry because it takes a lot of money to innovate in the sector and there's very few that have the funds to do it for consumer facing hardware... Even if it is a few years off.

Eh. I've played mine a handful of times since I go it in early 2021.

Heard they do pretty bad things to kid's brains from a development perspective. I usually eye roll when my wife says these things but there are some scary articles out there on these devices. We decided against them for our 10-year old.

I bought one a few months ago and played it for a few weeks here and there. The biggest problem is most of the good games don't have trials and I don't intend to spend $40 on a game only to hate it.

I had to get one for work. Complete junk. It seems like there are a couple good games like half life alyx, but they are very expensive. Most games and environments are cartoony trash. And forget anything that involves dexterity because the controllers just aren't that effective. I don't know how anyone is expected to write on the virtual whiteboard. Even with the poker game, there is a very fine line between peeling your cards to see them and lifting them up completely.

I use mine extensively mostly for fitness with Supernatural vr. A complete game changer for me as it is high intensity and great core work out which has completely cured my chronic back pain and greatly increased my 50 year old stability and agility.

I also play some of the star wars games and they aren't bad. I don't like the gun play for most games that use sights because the max IPD is still not big enough for me and I get double vision with iron sights.

I also can PCVR. Eye of the Temple was great fun, Asgards wrath is a bit hard but fun. I like dirt rally 2 with racing seat and wheel.

There is a shortage of processing power In the headset and a lack of demand and funding for big titles even in PCVR. There is also way too much horror genre which I don't enjoy.

Overall I'm very happy with it if nothing else than as a relatively cheap fitness tool.

Thanks. I've been reading a few articles and I'm not sure if, heck I'm pretty sure our 14 and 11 year old won't get to use it.

You can always buy it and then return it via amazon or best buy if you don't like it. Same goes with the games. If you play less than 2 hours you can request a full refund on any game.

Other titles I have liked include: Red Matter, Shadowgate VR, Moss. Moss 2 just came out and a second red matter is coming soon as well.

Wasn't there a commercial at some point that they had a deal with the NBA so that you could effectively watch live games from the courtside seats? Did this ever come to fruition on the platform?

I thought you also had to get NBA League Pass to use.

I start getting a bit of a headache if I use it too long.
