I am through 6 episodes. I think its good but not great. I never read the comic but from reviews I've read it sounds like it stays fairly loyal to the comic.

My main criticisms with it is that it seems to have the production value a tick above a SyFy show. Also a show like this needs to be more weird and spooky with its visuals and sound and it just feels like they are playing it safe.

That said it is entertaining and interesting. The diner episode is really good.

I pulled out and read the first few parts of the comic the other day. This adaptation is very faithful. The dude they found to play Dream really looks and sounds the part.

If I didn't have the context of the comic, not sure how much is understand.
I've only watched a few so far, but really like it a lot.

Never read the comics but I enjoyed the recent Audible production with voice actors in all roles and the author (Gaiman) as the narrator. I'm 4 episodes in and liking the Netflix version quite a bit. The first episode was just ok but sets up the plot for the first half of the season. If I understand correctly some of the episodes I enjoyed the most on the Audible series are in the second half of the Netflix season.

Watched the first episode and all I can say to sum it all up is that it is very, very MEH. Also, it's super gay (I know the source material is too), not in an aggressive way, but more like it just feels like a story where the primary intended demographic is gay dudes. Got annoyed at having to continuously look at emo, naked Todd every 2-3 minutes.

I haven't read this material, but I am a huge fan of other Gaiman works. Six episodes in and I am very much enjoying this.

OP: If you want more production work on a Neil Gaiman series check out Neverwhere.

Also not familiar with the comic although it's always been on my list. Two episodes in and enjoying it.

If for some reason Denis Villeneuve wanted to recast Feyd as looking and built similar to Sting in Dune '84, I'm not sure you can get more on point that this guy playing Dream. Not even sure how it's possible to get that thin and cut at the same time. #nohomo

I listened to the audiobook version about a year ago, James McAvoy narrates for Dream in it. This seems extremely faithful to the source material one episode in. It's got to be one of the most out there characters for either Marvel or DC, I'm very interested to see what the reaction is from the general masses.

I'm trying to remember and I believe I counted 3 straight white men that weren't serial killers in this series.

The Jewish man who death took (no idea actually)
The accountant in the diner scene (who killed a man and f'ed his wife)
And I guess the immortal man.

Finished 4 episodes and yes, you're right. I'm enjoying the story but I could do without the gayness constantly being shoehorned into it (even if that's how the comics are). I'd be more fine with it if it was actually integral to the story but it's just gratuitous.

It's like: "here's this character and here's how he fits into the story and oh, yeah, he's gay. (wokeness box checked!)"

welcome to the commoditization of streaming content.

I noticed this with Obi wan. The scenes looked worse at times than CGI from over 20 years ago.

This is a general comment about quality streaming shoes having leveled out. Whether it is crap imagery or woke check boxes, I'm hesitant to invest time in anything new these days.

Is this DC's version of woke Constatine? Then they threw in God of War for good measure. Also a few GOT actors found a recent gig. I have no idea what's going on.

I noped right out during the preview scene starring the ****** fembot and uglier rebel Wilson.

I'm past where I thought I could be with storylines/casting for the sake of wokeness points.
I.E. Ellen>Elliot page on umbrella academy, the entire team of gay animated super heroes, and on AppleTV's Loot the casting of the foundation director.
Just make good content and cast the best talent for the part. Cmon.

This is a great adaptation of the comic. The look, feel, and themes are all very well done.

I'm now six episodes in. I'm generally a fan of Gaiman's works, so I'm enjoying it ok but good god almighty this is a straight to video LGBTQ+ / woke series. All of the bad guys are white people. And if you aren't a bad white person then there is a 90% chance you are gay and/or black.

I was amused by Lucifer being described as the most beautiful creature that has ever existed by Dream and then they roll out this very average looking, almost middle aged white woman with a 70s boy haircut. Uh, that was pretty horrible telegraphing, Mr. Dream.

This show is a sloppy, uneven mess. It had enough to keep me going through all the episodes, but not much. I must be the only person that hated the diner episode.

You're supposed to hate the diner episode. It's a harrowing issue of the comic too.

I thought the diner episode was interesting. You had basically an entire self-contained drama take place in about 2,000 sq ft of two rooms.
