Anybody know how many times Matt was shot in the left shoulder?

" My figure includes: eight shots in the left arm, six in the left shoulder, four in the left side, one in the left leg, five in the right arm, five in the right shoulder, six in the right side, three in the right chest, four in the right leg, three forehead grazes, five in the back and several creases. The poor marshal was also knocked unconscious 29 times, stabbed three times and poisoned once."

Matt Dillon was shot many times, but no bullet could stop the best western lawman ever! Now a visit from Miss Kitty…different story.

I love watching reruns of Gunsmoke but man the first 6 or so seasons where they are 30 minutes are SO much better than the 1 hour ones because it's always about just the main cast and the scripts are super tight and good. I was honestly shocked at a few of the outcomes of a story because it was really good drama. But like John Wayne said in his intro for the show, it was an Adult western for adults. I love the later color reruns too but it's usually about 20 minutes of the main cast and the rest as a vehicle for guest stars, which of course some were pretty famous folks.

One other thing, if Hollywood didn't screw it up lol, who would play the main characters in a movie? I can't guess at a ton of them but all I can think of is:

Chris Pratt - could play Matt or Newly but only if it's a young Marshal Dillon.
Festus - Larry the Cable Guy which is a serious lol suggestion but his voice is the only reason I think of that.
Kitty - who's a good older redhead that would seem streetsmart yet heart of gold? Amy Adams? Not sure.
Chester - who can play a good ol' lanky country boy? Lucas Black (kid from Sling Blade)?
Doc - Martin Sheen? He made a good older doc in 12 mighty orphans
Newly - mentioned Chris Pratt but anyone else?
Sam the Bartender - Billy Bob Thornton?

I'm just wondering out loud and before anyone acts crazy I just think of Larry the Cable guy for Festus because if his VOICE haha.

If going young Matt, then Chris Pratt and Amy Adams makes sense.

If going "middle age", how about John Hamm and Christina Hendricks?

This is true. Though the show had silly moments, it was at it's core a drama. Some of the episodes had some pretty non-happy endings.

I clicked on this thread afraid there was a reboot in the works. I'm glad to see it is just idle chatter.
