Don't know how many Dragonball fans are on this board, but just saw this today. Another great one.
If you were ever a fan of the series at any point, you'd appreciate the movie.

Not quite as good as the Broly movie that released in 2018, But very close

I like that they poked fun at the show a little. The Gohan transformation was basically fan art but it was a good time.

Probably going to break $20M this weekend. I think it has a 90 day theatrical run, so I bet it gets into the mid $30s.

I wonder how much more it costs to do this new CGI 3D animation vs the hand drawn. I still prefer hand drawn, but I'm sure it costs more to do.

Was reading one episode of the TV series has a $180K budget. With as many episodes that there are, adds up quick

Took the kids to see it this weekend. Overall very enjoyable and if you're a fan you'll like it. Just be aware that it focuses almost entirely on the B team (Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, etc). Random thoughts:

To no one's surprise, Piccolo is still a better father and grandfather than Goku to Goku's own family

Orange Piccolo was cool, but I thought the dragonballs couldn't make people more powerful? I get the "hidden potential" stuff is a workaround, but the "little extra" seems like a big artficial powerup.

They did Cell dirty. I like Cell as a villain and this was just a mindless monster that could have been anyone. He didn't even regenerate his arm!

Albino Gohan? Really?

Vegeta finally won a fair fight against Goku!

I love that this was basically Piccolo's movie. He doesn't get enough credit and he might be my favorite character in the series. Loved his storyline as the villain from the original Dragonball series back so many years ago. Not focusing everything on Goku/Vegeta heroics was a good change of pace. As you mention though, was great to see Vegeta finally win a fair fight

Krillin got **** on too much by Bulma. First two times were funny. They made him look even smaller than normal.

Love that Gohan was the one to take down Cell, just like so many years ago. Using piccolo's technique made it that much better. Wish Cell had been able to talk though

I wanted to see Gotenks natural fusion. We haven't seen an older form of them last I recall.
