If you go please tell Dave to shut the **** up about Metallica already. He hasn't been in the band in 40 years and is highly successful with his own band. His constant pathetic whining about them is old and tired. Thanks and gig 'em.
You get that if you takeaway Dave's songs and riffs, Metallica is just an also ran metal band from the Bay Area at a time when all the metal bands were coming out of LA.John Matrix said:Know Your Enemy said:

That's my thought as well. I've been a huge fan of both bands for two decades now, and I've repeatedly had the same thought. Dave just can't let it go. Although, like most artists, I wonder if it's that obsession that drives him to be as talented as he is? Regardless, I'm sick of hearing about it. Megadeth is a god-level, seminal thrash band that speaks for itself. There's no reason for the guy to kee dwelling on a failed six-month-stint he had with a band forty years ago, even if that band is Metallica.

WASHINGTONSaying that any further endeavors of technical skill and imagination were pointless, experts at the Smithsonian Institution reportedly questioned Monday why new art was still being produced after the pinnacle of aesthetic and creative potential was reached in 1990 with Megadeth's fourth studio album, Rust In Peace. "As the unquestioned apex of the entire history of the creative arts, Rust In Peace is the finest and last necessary piece of human expressionbut it's almost as though current so-called artists are completely oblivious to Dave Mustaine's blistering, transcendent guitar work on 'Hangar 18,'" said Smithsonian curator of contemporary art Joanna Marsh, gesturing dismissively in the direction of a massive self-portrait by photorealist Chuck Close, completed in 2000. "It's not just incredibly disrespectful to keep making art; in many ways, it's actually quite sad. The deluded people churning out this worthless garbage just can't seem to reconcile themselves to the fact that their pathetic little sculptures and films and novels and whatnot will always pale in comparison to the brilliantly inspired, heart-stopping tempo shift halfway through 'Holy Wars… The Punishment Due.'" At press time, a spokesperson from the Centre Pompidou in Paris confirmed the museum's plans to throw out the contents of an entire wing and leave a massive, pure white space where the track "Lucretia" will be played on loop at full volume.

Dave has a right to get credit for his music. Just like some of the other rockers out there who had their music publishing credit taken by other musicians. Like the long list of players in Ozzy's band.
It would be cool to go to the Album Release party in Austin. I thought about going to see Megadeth in Austin but, I saw Megadeth about 7-8 years ago in Sydney and Dave just can't sing anymore. Also not sure how the chemistry will be without Dave Ellefson.
I wonder how much of Dave talking about Metallica is due to him getting asked questions about Metallica in interviews. To a certain extent, it makes sense, as he was a founding member of two of the Big Four in thrash metal.Know Your Enemy said:

Got the green light from the wife. I grew up blaring Metallica and Megadeth. Going to get something signed for my dad as well for a gift. These guys aren't getting any younger so might as well make sure I go.
He can choose not to answer them. Or at least not answer them like a whiny ****.Claude! said:I wonder how much of Dave talking about Metallica is due to him getting asked questions about Metallica in interviews. I mean, you can also choose to ignore him. The greatness of Hangar 18 or Train of Consequences aren't gated behind an interview segment.Know Your Enemy said:He can choose not to answer them. Only way I can avoid it is to stop following all rock/metal/music sites that report on it, really. Then that means missing all the other news I want to see. And never did I say that his whining made me not listen to his music.Claude! said:I mean, you can also choose to ignore him. Yeah, maybe if he had a coach/manager/handler. But, he'd also have to be "coachable" and I don't think Dave is.Know Your Enemy said:He can choose not to answer them. It's ironic that a former teenage metalhead has to get the green light from his wife to leave the house. I sincerely mean no disrespect to the OP, but come on…. how did it sound in your head as you were typing it?

The only thing tireder than Dave whining about Metallica is the people whining about Dave whining about Metallica.Know Your Enemy said:

DAVE MUSTAINE Says He Was 'The Alpha Male' While He Was In METALLICA
Quote:
In a new interview with Vinyl Writer Music, MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine said that he has been "secretly hoping there'd be a day" when he could write music again with his former bandmate in METALLICA, James Hetfield. He added: "I think the world really does want us to do that, and I think there is a pretty good possibility of it happening down the line."
He continued: "I do think that it's possible that one day James is going to come around and that he and I are going to be able to do something together again. I guess that's one of the things that has always kept me pushing forward. I think it'd be good for MEGADETH, and it could be great for METALLICA too."
