If you could go back in time and relive that one moment that will never be and hear a song for the first time again, what songs would you wish to hear?

I'm sure there are a bunch, but the one that immediately springs to mind is Comfortably Numb. The fraught madness of Waters's piece giving way to Gilmour's angelic vocals and then into the guitar solo...greatness.

too many, for different reasons - whether the music, the lyrics, a relationship I was in, etc.

Overall - Probably "Save a Prayer" - Duran Duran

I remember seeing Rio on MTV first time. Watched the entire video...turned TV off...rode bike to Memorial City Mall and bought that cassette! Will never forget that moment.

Probably "More Than A Feeling" by Boston. That was the first LP my brother bought. They sold LP's at the Safeway where we lived, kind of by the magazine section.

He bought it because he liked the album cover. He bought Van Halen I the same way.

We wore that record out.

The first time I heard that song - it was Jim Carrey lip syncing.

it is truly an exceptional album that sounds as modern as it did when released 40 years ago. Plus every song had a video and they were all incredible.

Adding a second song:

"How Soon is Now" by the Smiths.

Very simplistic in structure and in lyrics, but it creates such an impact and aural construct that you still listen to every damn second of it.

What Difference Does it Make by The Smiths was one for me. That guitar hook penetrated my soul.

Smells Like Teen Spirit came out my Freshmen year in college and was nothing like I had heard, but felt like it was everything I was trying to be.

In High School it was definitely Gouge Away by the Pixies

Stairway To Heaven

I know it's cliche to pick it and it's not even my favorite Zeppelin song but it's legendary in the history of rock & roll.

Rocket Queen - Guns n Roses. Just to hear the outro song. "I see you standing, standing on your own. It's such a lonely place for you to be."

I used to sit by my stereo and make mix tapes on cassettes off the radio. I had recently switched my "goto" station from KRBE (pop rock) to KLOL (hard Album Oriented rock). Spirit of Radio came on and I recorded it the first time I ever heard it. The guitar and drums intro just blew me away. As it continued to play and just got better and better, I was SO glad I was recording it for many future listens. Still one of the best songs ever!

I went to school the next day and had no idea who the band was, or even the name of the song. I told the kids sitting next to me in English class about this great song, and I thought it was called "Invisible Airwaves". Amy Williams took great pride in correcting me and telling me it was " The Spirit of Radio" by Rush.

"Don't Look Back" by Boston has what I call "the riff of my childhood," because I remembered it so vividly and yet it wasn't on one of the tracks from the only Boston album I knew existed. I remember hearing it again on the bus at A&M and racing back to my dorm to Google the lyrics I could remember so I could track down the song.

So in a way I wouldn't want to hear it for the first time again, but the first-time-since-I-was-5 again.

I know it's cheesy, but the first A&M game I really remember - Strategic Air Command. It just totally captured the moment for me.

There are so many it'd be fun to rediscover, but I think that one stands out for me.

Id like to go back and pop Siamese Dream into the CD player and hear Cherub Rock again for the first time. Either that, or Weezer's Blue Album and listen to my name is Jonas. Those two tracks started my love affair with music more than any others.

For the FTAB, wish I could go back and see the sousaphone extraction during a drill with Them Basses again for the first time. Wasn't expecting it the first time I saw it. Fortunately they do not have an extraction every time so it is still cool when it happens

Interesting take. I was and remain a huge GNR homer. But Welcome to the Jungle for us was rowdy, fight mode, get ready for kickoff music.

Paradise City was party mode with the girl fun

Sweet Child of Mine was putting in a little bit of work, same result

Patience was back seat somewhere, get there but take your time

1985, I was 10 years old. I would go to my grandparents' house to watch MTV because we didn't have cable. Anyway, this music video came on and I knew right then I wanted to make music. BTW, if you haven't listened to their new album you're missing out.

All the songs that come to mind I heard for the first time back in junior high.

The most profound one I can remember is when I got the soundtrack to The Crow. I was a fan of STP and the only song I had heard before I got that album was "Big Empty." When I put on that album the first time I was greeted with "Burn" by The Cure and it was mind-blowing. Also on that album were songs by RATM, NIN, Pantera, Helmet, Violent Femmes, etc. But to this day I remember listening to that album for the first time on the way to a soccer tournament and basically nonstop for months.

Other songs/albums that I have similar feelings/experiences hearing the first time.

"Cherub Rock" from Smashing Pumpkins from when I heard Siamese Dream the first time at my friends house when we were all playing basketball.

"Mr. Self Destruct" from NIN on The Downward Spiral. I had heard "Closer" and "March of the Pigs" and liked them well enough but the aggression and intensity of "Mr. Self Destruct" was on a completely other level. One of the most underrated NIN songs ever.

"Stinkfist" by Tool the first time I heard the album Aenima at my friend's house.

"I Ain't Goin' Out Like That" from Cypress Hill from the first time I listened to Black Sunday. That album changed the way I thought about rap music. I had borrowed it from a friend of mine, not sure if I ever got my own copy or if I just kept his.

I wish I could go back and listen to that whole album for the first time. I remember buying the cassette tape of Appetite for Destruction from my cousin. Such a good album front to back.
