When I was in my teens, I got into reading all the masculine adventure books of the day. They were James Bond inspired, 80s pulp, Guns N Ammo Magazine supported, alpha-male driven, Chuck Norris wannabe, revenge porn paperbacks, mostly. Mack Bolan, Nick Carter, the Executioner, the Phoenix Force, and most notably, The Executioner. So when Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins came out, it moved into my favorite movie of all time for about 4 weeks during the summer of 1985. I've waited my entire life for the adventure to continue, but it looks like it is not to be. RIP Fred Ward.
I grew out of the adventure book phase after about a year when I got tired reading stories about lone ex-military mercenaries, bent on revenge or rescue, spending about a quarter of the book describing guns that I knew nothing about. While stumbling around the internet on this subject, I did notice an old series called The Penetrator. Never read one, but I may check it out.
