I just sold my Gibson LPJ; I've come to the realization that I am pretty much just a single-coil kind of guy. I have a MIJ Fender Strat already, so I'm looking to get a Telecaster this weekend (assuming Ian has blown us all away over here).

I'm trying to stay under $1,000, so I'm looking at the Player series Teles, but I'm also intrigued by the Michael Kelly 1950s series. They have a beautiful black burl t-style. Do any of you have any experience with Michael Kelly guitars?

Yes. I've got a 1953. Caramel sunburst (looks like tobacco burst to me), faux binding (like a PRS) 4 way switching. Very good fit and finish. Well worth the money.

If you're willing to push up against that $1K limit there's lots of options.

I've decided on the 53OP. I'm going to order from Sam Ash because of their return policy, but this one looks fantastic. I wish it had a maple fret board, but I can handle that trade-off. Gonna wait until Ian gets done with us here in Florida before I order, though.

Cool. The 4 way switching is awesome. 4th position is very useful.
