Every Halloween we always try to introduce some new Halloween show/movie to our older boys who are currently 11 & 9….youngest won't be able to follow these….

We figured this year the twilight zone (the originals) would be a great thing to introduce to them….it's been a while since I've seen them but obviously remember the classics like The Obselete Man, Enough Time, To Serve Man, Living Doll, The Shelter…..

Curious to hear other recommendations from y'all to show them.

Terror at 20,000 ft featuring a young William Shatner is an all time classic.

The Monsters are due on Maple Street

The first ones that came to my mind were The Obsolete Man & Time Enough at Last, both starring Burgess Meredith coincidentally.

I watched the Living Doll episode when I was 5 or 6 and I'm still scared of it today.

"The Howling Man" which is about The Devil who is trapped in a prison cell in a castle. Or is he really?

All great answers thanks y'all!

There was another episode I remember where it's about a bet where a rich guy who really dislikes this other annoying guy wagers that the annoying guy won't talk for an entire year, and if he follows through the rich guy pays him a million bucks.

Won't spoil the twist but for those who've seen it what's the name of that one….that one always stuck with me cause of the ending

It's called The Silence and I just read the whole synopsis and wow yes what an ending. I see why it stuck with you!

The Hunt; about a man and his dog after death. I'll leave it at that; it was good.

There's a good episode where a woman is alone at night in her home and several little robots attack her. That freaked me out as a little kid.

The Jungle is one that has stuck with me. Lots of other great mentions here too, though.

Really, it's hard to go wrong, great series

For my money, I'd go with the John Lithgow version from Twilight Zone: The Movie. The musical score is amazing (Jerry Glodsmith), Lithgow is incredible, and the monster is truly terrifying, as opposed to the original show's version which looked a whole lot like an ugly teddy bear.

This is the one where astronauts crash on Mars and are found by Martians and are given a nice home and well taken care of...with a twist.

"Eye of the Beholder" is a great one.

A couple outside the box -

"Mr. Garrity and the Graves" Not a great overall episode but does have a creepy ending which would be fitting for Halloween.

"The Bewitchin' Pool" Kid oriented episode, I particularly like it because the actress that portrayed Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird is in it. Also it the last Twilight Zone episode from the original series to air.

To Serve Man. Nice twist. But they're all great. I never miss a marathon. And I own all the DVDs. All the reboots have never been able to recreate that magic. The Old Outer Limits and Night Gallery are close seconds.

Another non violent not super scary episode. A UFO crashes and police investigate a diner because the occupant of whatever crashed could be in there. A bus load of people are stranded in the diner because the crash took out the bridge or something, so the police try to find out who the alien is.

The John Lithgow version straight up BOTHERED me as a young kid watching it. Scared the hell out of me and so glad with that remake they didn't make it campy and took it a little more serious

Forgot about Maple Street….that's another that got to me (think I saw that one as a young teenager) cause it was a great depiction of mob mentality and how we as humans can get so carried away.

Also forgot about the Christmas episode….probably need to show them that one around when we do our annual watching of nightmare before Christmas

"Maple Street" isn't scary, but it's one of the deepest episodes that's ever been on television.

Yep. Had a freaked out dream about again as an adult.

Serling's ability to look into human nature and put it on film was amazing.

That word doesn't even do it justice.

The woman Ages Moorehead (Endora) on Bewitched,) and I think Robert Redford had a small role.

One of my favorites was about three or maybe four men who robbed Ft Knox and then hid in a dessert cave and used cryogenics to sleep a hundred years and avoid the statute of limitations.

"One for the Angels". That one has stuck with me for years. Absolutely existential.

PS - The mayor from Jaws is in it. If you take his character from this ep into Jaws, the you see Jaws in a whole new light.

PPS - The original series is streaming on Paramount+.

Been watching it on Paramount + recently. The perfect October show. I've never seen it from start to finish so it's been fun. Just seen pockets of episodes here and there. Have already stumbled across a few I hadn't seen

Wonderful episode! If someone is afraid to watch the series, just get them to watch this one episode. Almost a tear-jerker, and definitely leaves you with a good feeling.
