Start watching this the other day after following it while it was in the news circuit last couple of years. Surprised they pulled it together so quickly. But in short it's a great watch. Extremely well produced and very engaging story. Sucked me in after the first 30 minutes with having low expectations. In fact I stopped and re-watched with the wife because I knew she'd eat it up as well. Even knowing the majority of the elements of the story, there is so much more that makes this a mind boggling situation. Crazy to think this was all true.

Edit: It's on HBO Max and currently three episodes are out so far.

Very intriguing story. I've listened to a couple of in depth podcasts on it (included a 4 parter from True Crime Garage) so I'm pretty tapped out on the story.

Started it last night. Am definitely hooked. I didn't have time to watch all of the first episode but will fire it up and knock it out over the next couple of days as I can. I had heard of this incident but really don't remember any of the details. For as much true crime stuff as I consume I'm shocked I don't know more about it already.

Same, but this is a really well done series and there are bits and pieces that I didnt learn in the podcasts/Dateline, etc.

Dateline is the Diet Coke of crime documentaries. 1 calorie…not detailed enough. Lol!

Don't get me wrong. I watch them all, but once you've heard a story in a detailed podcast, it's hard to be interested in the same story on Dateline or 20/20

Agreed. If it was the run of the mill documentary I wouldnt have been interested. Like I said I went into it with low expectations. But all of the video, and first hand accounts gave it a depth and relatability that doesn't typically come through on a documentary and podcasts. Brought the story to life, and orders of magnitude of detail that I was previously unaware of (and had followed the story as well). Independent of who made it, it is a well done production that most will find entertaining and interesting.

It's not Dateline. HBO with reputable producers.

Great series.

That 911 call after the boat crash gave me chills. Such raw emotion.

Yeah, I confused myself on who was replaying to whom, etc. the whole point was my intent to point out that the OP says it's in HBO Max. Didn't even realize you were the OP.

Started last night. the footage obtained from the bar/boat/hospital that night was wild. The actions of the son and his dad/grandparents seemed so despicable. And for his friend at the scene to already claiming the kid was going to get off and he's yelling it by the police car. Whew.
