So, I'm looking for any gritty cop/detective shows I've overlooked. Ones that are available streaming.

I'm not looking for shows like CSI or NCIS, where everything is clean, spacious, and new, and they've got tech that looks like it belongs on the bridge of the starship Enterprise.

So far I've streamed my way through:
NYPD Blue
The Wire (when it was still on Prime)
Justified
Southland
Longmire
Bosch
The Shield

Any recommendations? Is Homicide: Life on the Streets worth the price of the DVD set?

I was a kid (high school/college age) when Homicide:Life on the Streets was originally airing. I loved it exactly because it was gritty and well written. Its a David Simon forerunner to The Wire. If you liked the other shows on your list you'll like this one. Yaphet Kotto and Andre Braugher knock it out of the park.

The Bosch spinoff was fine. Streamlined the cast a bit and the lawyer has a bigger role, but it's still entertaining. You can find it to stream on Amazon Prime but I think it's a FreeVee show or something.

There's quite a few gritty foreign shows on Netflix if you don't mind subtitles. Wallander, Border Town, Marcella are just a few.

Forgot about those two. Only started a little bit of Luthor, but Sherlock is excellent, highly recommend. Not quite a "cop show" but still think the OP would like it based on his list of watched shows.

Hill Street Blues was the original gritty cop show, wasn't it? I remember watching it when it originally aired and enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure it's on Hulu.

What about Law & Order. The first 10 or so seasons were so good. You may have to use Peacock to see those.

I remember a show called Eastland i believe it was that I remember really liking. It had the guy from the OC in it. Oorc it was gritty and really good.

The Sinner on Netflix. More of a gritty lone detective like Bosch. Season 3 sucked but I've enjoyed the others. Part way through season 4 now.

The Killing.
The first two seasons are fantastic. One of my favorite detective shows that I have seen.

Two other additions to my (the OP) personal list

City Homicide
Mindhunters (Hey Netflix, where the hell is season 3? It's been THREE YEARS!)

I do like Law & Order. But I'll watch it for a while, and then run into one of their political (violence inspired by right wing talk radio! Guns from a Southern state! ZOMG!!! Eleventy!!!!) and get pissed off and have to stop watching.

And I really wish Third Watch was available streaming.

Oh, and for anyone interested, Prime has at least some episodes of Dragnet.
