Eagerly awaiting the angry response from one poster on this, but compare the top grossing he late 90's/early 200s and today.

When you all but eliminate romance movies, comedies, or movies with substance from what's getting prime dates and press, all you're left with are movies for 7 year olds, or 20 something dudes. Of course volume will be down. Most of the exceptions to that are franchises or nostalgia (Top Gun, SW, Bond etc). Very little new IP creative stuff being made compared to even a few years ago.
Yep, that's true...not much originality. It's a double whammy. But just because you don't feel that way doesn't mean hundreds of thousands, or even millions don't.boy09 said:
I don't give a **** about any of that. They're just not making many movies that i want to go to a theater and see.

I imagine there is a whole cohort of people who just aren't interested in superhero/comic book/reboot movies. They aren't avoiding the theater and waiting for those movies to stream. They just don't care about them in any format.
Good for you I guess? You probably don't know that Jenn Lawrence turned her back on her family because they didn't vote for her guy as well. But some of us follow more than just movies/video games or whatever. These people literally hate/look down on half of the country and have zero desire to hide it, but they want our money....more and more people are noticing, I promise you.Another Doug said:
I watch movies, I couldn't tell you Mark Ruffalo's politics, I wouldn't even know what Apatow looks like much less recall anything he has ever said.

Jennifer Lawrence calls JD Vance a 'rich t***' as she reveals 2016 election tore apart her family

Why do i get the feeling that you wouldn't have this same issue if Hollywood was overrun with preachy hardcore right wingers....43rd Street Posse said:

Ha! These threads are a bat signal for you, too.TCTTS said:

Agreed we need less movies with homoeroticism and more movies like Top Gun.
I hear you, but for me it was never really just about their politics. I have always known that they were almost all left winged...but really back then it was maybe Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins using their awards ceremony to engage in preachy political BS.RightWingConspirator said:
You just described me. I won't see most of the stuff that comes out because their politics bother me. This year has been anomalous for us in that we saw Barbarian and Smile at the movie theatre (we're horror fans). We wouldn't normally do that.
Here's an idea, Hollywood. Stop with the stupid superhero movies. I realize I'm in the minority here, but I've only been forced to sit through one in my entire life...and it could not end fast enough for me - Black Panther. Don't understand why so many millions love these types of movies, but I suppose many don't understand my affinity for late 70s and early 80s punk.
Let's be honest here...that was not his point...that there are gays and minorities in movies. It's the super forced approach of bending over backwards to focus on that as top priority in so many films, shows, and commercials that he seems to have a problem with. You may disagree, and that's fair, but he was not simply lamenting "who let the datgum colored folks in the movie industry!" like you're making it sound.TCTTS said:boy09 said:

Staff, sincere question… why did you leave the post complaining about "racial minorities, gays, and trannies" in movies, but *deleted* and reprimanded the post complaining about the person who said those things? Seriously? That's the message TexAgs is sending?

Stop shoe horning in racial minorities, gays, and trannies for no reason other than so-called "diversity."
Do you think if so many Hollywood actors didn't constantly inject their hate fueled preachy politics we would even be talking about it over here? I love how you always bash any anonymous message board poster who criticizes or complains about Hollywood for being super inundated with politics and preachiness (and hatefulness and intolerance). Like it's some illegitimate gripe that so many actors with voices who reach millions are basically calling half the country stupid and/or evil. Even the ones who are nicer about it and just want to politely lecture us politically...it gets old.TCTTS said:

Most of the population doesn't make politics their identity.43rd Street Posse said:
I think a significant % of the population, including me, has become kind of fed up/jaded over Hollywood in general. It's by and large a bunch of preachy, hyper politically biased, narcissistic, often times sociopathic hypocrites. I get that certain people will deny this, and maybe me and others are wrong for viewing them this way, but the point is that that is the perception by a growing number of people.
Just randomly, let's take Mark Ruffalo and Judd Apatow for instance (they aren't even the worst). Both super left winged, and they have made it beyond clear how stupid and backwards they think the people who voted for "orange man bad" over their preferred dementia riddled candidate are. They literally think my sweet, smart and uber-charitable mother is (a) STUPID, or (b) EVIL, because she didn't vote for their braindead guy. They have made this clear, as has a see of preachy hypocritical virtue signaling clowns in Hollywood. Oh, but they want our money and get frustrated when we don't take their ridicule and ask for more.
It's just a major turn off and I think many people are checking out because they just don't like Hollywood people. I know quite a few friends who are in this boat.
Them just sticking to entertaining us, and engaging in charity/activism to their heart's content, but not preaching down to, or demonizing others, would go A LONG WAY. I know some prominent posters on here are going to disagree on this, and my post may get yanked, but just an honest opinion. Just imagine if Hollywood was overrun by a bunch of hard core right wingers who didn't live what they preached and always demonized and ridiculed and lectured to the left half of the country. I don't think these people should be off limits from harsh criticism. They are the ultimate out-of-touch hypocrites.

Again, if we cared about the personal politics of actors and musicians, none of us complaining would have ever seen any movies, watched any shows, or consumed any music. We have always known what their overwhelming hive-mind politics were. You can be blackballed from their industry if you are openly conservative...Chris Pratt seems to be the rare exception, because he operates with a tremendous amount of tact and doesn't outwardly express his views like the liberal actors do, with zero recourse.oragator said:
As long as they don't go full on crazy, I don't care about the politics from anyone I watch on TV or film.
I know reading comprehension is an elusive skill, but I'm not complaining about racial minorities, gays, and trannies being in movies. I am complaining about them being shoehorned into movies just for "diversity" rather than for a purpose that serves the narrative. I just want the best actor or actress for each role, and I don't want gay propaganda injected into everything I watch just so there is "representation" of gays.TCTTS said:boy09 said:
