My friend has read the books at least a dozen times and he doesn't like the movies because they're extremely inaccurate to the books. He said the first one is okay and the second one isn't good at all. What are your thoughts?

Rick Riordan visited the school my brother teaches at right before the book series blew up years ago and thus we've followed his career a bit more closely. The first movie is pretty meh despite good casting of the gods and Pierce Brosnan as the centaur. It definitely smacks of a movie that does not make a lick of sense if you haven't read the books, and while the books are popular, they definitely smack of a Harry Potter ripoff.

The Percy Jackson TV series on Disney Plus has finished filming 16 out of 22 chapters of the first book for those of you interested in watching it. Filming is expected to wrap up in December or January and the series is expected to be released in early 2024.

I actually read the books recently for the first time this year and then watched the movie after. I hated the movie after semi enjoying it when I was younger. The inaccuracies are so bad it's insanely annoying,

Yeah, I made a Google Docs of one hundred differences between the first book and first movie.

I read the books with my daughter. We agree that it is best to never acknowledge the movies exist.

What's your favorite Percy Jackson book? Mine is the first or the second.

The books are so fabulously written that I haven't seen the movies. My teen didnt care for the first movie when it came out which cemented it for me. Enjoyed some of Riordan's other work based in San Antonio.
