Didn't see a thread on this new show.

We watched all 8 episodes over the last week. My wife and I both really enjoyed it. They work in a lot of the historical quirkiness of the Addams Family, there's a dash of Harry Potter'ish world building with it taking place at Wednesday's school, and it is primarily a "who done it" mystery with Wednesday being the primary investigator.

Very well done and has a lot of humor. Can't wait until season 2.

For whatever reason the trailers just didn't do it for me. It seemed like content that was very precisely tailored by an AI for it to hit big with the YA/Netflix crowd.

I may check it out just based on the popularity though. Love the movies.

There was an interview with the director, where in the beginning, the actress playing Wednesday did not blink through the whole scene and they then shot the rest of the season without a blink on camera.

We burned through the entire season over a weekend.

Really enjoyed it.

I wonder if we'll see a resurgence of interest in Siouxsie and the Banshees

I have tried to watch the first episode twice and fell asleep both times. I did not think it was bad or anything I just couldn't get into it.

I think they ignored one minor point in the article: Part of the reason for the popularity of the show is Wednesday makes every single goth girl ever feel seen, and not in a mocking or derisive way.

From the previews and synopsis it looked pretty clearly like a love letter to the YA alt female crowd crossed with the previous generation's Veronica Mars and Hogwarts. It also evokes Christina Ricci for Gen X. Reviews and buzz were enough to overcome that for me, not that there's anything wrong with Ricci or Bell.

Looking forward to binging it this weekend with the wife in lieu of worse fare.

It's Tim Burton, I don't think he GAF about sending love letters to anyone, he just does his own thing. You're trying too hard to classify this show, just watch it and enjoy it.
