I'm sure this has been done before, but oh well.

The Who was a great band with legendary, awesome songs. Quintessential rock and roll.

But wtf is Pinball Wizard? I don't care if it's a metaphor or has some deep symbolic meaning. It's a horrible song.

I started a similar thread years ago to the effect of "songs you hate by an artist/band you normally love" and vice-versa "songs you love by an artist/band you normally hate".

You know it is from a rock opera, right? I needs to be heard w/ the rest of the album for context. BTW, the film version features Ann Margret rolling around the floor, covered in beans - a sight you can't forget once you see it.

Pinball Wizard is great, sure the lyrics aren't the best but the music is great

. The story behind it is that they needed Tommy to be good at a game or something and Townshend knew that a major music critic/writer was a huge pinball fan, so Tommy became a pinball wizard to help the review.

As ggg mentioned, Tommy is a rock opera. Elton John's version of Pinball from the movie is great. I was in HS when the movie came out. A great era of rock music.

And I have the privilege of hearing Sweet Lew one of the 3 times they played it.

They had a lot of fun with it.

And there was a Texags poster with that name, Heyfoxymophandlemama.

And when he has that one there was a lot mansplaining going on.

For the OP. I remember coming out of the theatre almost 50 years ago, when rock was great. I wasn't quite sure what I had just witnessed.



The song with Eric Clapton was "different". Tina Turner singing The Acid Queen was intense.
