Watched it last night. Period piece set at West Point. Murder Mystery stuff. Christian Bale was good as always but the Dudley Dursley's performance as Edgar Allan Poe was better.

I was born at West Point and my Dad and Uncles went to school there so I was particularly interested.

Fun mystery. A bit gruesome and far fetched but we liked it.

B+ Netflix fare.

The acting was great. The movie itself was good as far as Netflix originals go, which isn't a high bar.

Wife picked it. She fell asleep but thats not because it was bad. I thought it was well worth watching. A little bizarre but the acting, and unique filming and setting in a rare time in history made it fascinating to watch.

I think so too but I do like the little bit of ambiguity. Supposing the note said, "this is happening with your help or without it." He got his answer on that option.

Watched it and thought as Netflix movies go, it's pretty good. I maybe late to realize this, but is Harry Melling a really good actor and likely positioned for a run of good roles and performances in the coming decade?

I'd say he nailed the elegant southern gentleman accent of the time and probably quirky personality of Poe very well.

My great grandfather had a similar manner and accent. Pretty cool.

Melling keeps getting better and better roles. He's recognizable now to many. Good actor.

Old Dudley has become a very good actor. Better than any other of the young Harry Potter actors. Never would have imagined that. Pretty decent movie.

Enjoyed it and I love Christian Bale, but why does he not get that inner eye skin-colored mole removed?!

Enjoyed it. To me, this was the perfect Netflix at home movie. Maybe not one I'd see in a theater these days, but was very excited to watch it when it came out on Netflix. I'd recommend it.

Pretty solid, but in hindsight aggravated that we watched this instead of 2nd half of Jags-Chargers not knowing a crazy comeback was happening. It wasn't quite good enough for me to not have regrets

Really dug the gothic, early American upper northeast aesthetic. for some reason i feel like i can watch just about anything in thay "sleepy hollow" time and place setting.

Movie was good. acting was pretty great. OP nailed it. B+

Interesting movie, but once I realized Poe was Dudley Dursley, it was a bit weird to watch. Certainly worth watching.

Man, no kidding.

Who would've looked at the Harry Potter movies cast and said, "I think that Dudley kid is gonna be hell of a dramatic actor."

He was outstanding as EAP, and like someone said above, completely dominated every scene he was in.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
