Timeline-wise, what were you expecting? It was two years between seasons two and three, and three years between season three and four. Now it looks like two years between seasons four and five, which sounds right on schedule. It takes really a long time to write, shoot, and do effects for each season.

It's just disappointing because it seems like a long time for 8 episodes….but when you think about it as 4 movies…it's not so bad.

This thread took a "strange" turn.

Put me down as one of the few that is not a big fan of the show. Season 1 and 3 I enjoyed. Seasons 2 and 4 were tough to endure, but ymmv. I enjoyed the earlier seasons where they played some classic Clash, Joy Division and New Order.

This show, maybe more than any other show, has had to deal with the same issues breakthrough bands face. Do the same thing, get criticized for being the same. Do something different and get criticized for going away from the bread & butter. Plus I think the saying 'You spend your whole life making your first album, and are then expected to make a second album in 1 year' applies to the Duffer brothers and this show.

It's also ironic that this show may be one of the more 'original' IP's out there, since it's a show entirely cribbing from 80's nostalgia.

That is a great analysis. It reminds me of a lot of clients I have as a ghostwriter where they have spent months or years cultivating a really good opening chapter of a book and then realize they don't know what to do next. I remember being meh on the second season as sort of a re-tread of the first, but the 3rd and 4th seaesons were so much fun. I think Dustin's Never Ending Story version was #1 on my Spotfiy play list for that year.

I enjoyed the hell outtta ST the first time around, and as I mentioned earlier, I started watching it with one of my kids last weekend, and she has loved every second of it - watching it through her eyes is like me in the 1980s watching ET and Ghostbusters and Aliens and The Goonies, just a great original thing to dive head first into and enjoy.

The nostalgia is part of it. But there's plenty of stuff based on the past that sucks. Stranger Things is a quality show. Good writing, directing, acting.

To discuss stranger things…what else.

What is your point in the thread?

Seems like you're still annoyed that I said Julia Roberts isn't attractive. You are never dating her, so get on with your life.

Curious the age of your daughter. I'm doing the exact thing right now and she's 12 and loving it. We are about to finish season 4.

Mine is 11.she loves scary stuff, and this was a reward for a long stretch of good behavior. Next Friday we will watch the season 1 finale.

Mine does as well. Still have reservations about the glamorization of teen sex and drug use, but it's been fun watching it with her.

If I remember correctly, season 4 takes place during the spring of the core group's freshman year of high school. Season 5 will likely take place that summer or some time during their sophomore year. The age gap really isn't that bad and there's been a lot worse(Grease).

pretty sure Ian Ziering and Gabrielle Carteris were in their upper 30s during the college years of 90210.

Netflix's website code was analyzed and the release date for season 5 was discovered. 11/27/25. 3 and a half years after season 4.

It wasn't analyzed, it was given to whoever runs that verified account (NOT leaked). The code is gobbledygook and meant to look real.

That account is an official "unofficial" channel to disseminate Stranger Things pub.

IMO, after they knew season 1 was a hit, they should have written the rest of the series while filming it straight through. But that would have been more handing off of writing and directing duties from the Duffers.

For me Season 1 > Season 3 > Season 4 > Season 2.

Season 3 is my favorite. Something about the mall just hits.
