I was listening to the Ringer's Rewatchables podcast today for Speed and they mentioned that you could watch the actual stunt of the bus jumping on YouTube. Sure enough, here it is. They used some early CGI effects to make it look like it was jumping the freeway. According to the Internet, it got to a height of 20 feet before landing and basically disabling every component on the bus.

Bill Simmons and his cohorts also debated a question that made me laugh out loud while driving. It was: At what point during the crisis does Jack start thinking to himself, "You know, if we get out of this alive, I think I'm going to try to have sex with this woman driving the bus."

I remember channel surfing one time at a younger age and came across a show where they were going into the behind the scenes of filming this movie (which I loved growing up)....turns out there was at least 4 different buses they used for filming this movie because of how much abuse/damage they took.

It was at that pivotal moment in my life where the curtain was removed to reveal the man behind it....and I questioned everything I'd seen in movies at that point....was a sad day.....

Similarly - they wrecked over 300 1969 Chargers over the course of the Dukes of Hazzard.

That barely qualifies as a jump. More like a drive and fall off of a ramp.

Until they mentioned Speed 2, I had completely forgotten that movie existed.

And no offense to Jason Patric, but it feels like his whole career is casting directors saying, "Well so-and-so turned us down, but Jason Patric is available."

And Jango Fett was in it!
I really like how the oil tanker captain doesn't seem to notice the cruise ship rocketing towards them until it's about 30 feet away.
Willem Dafoe's hair man, wow.
