If there are any other guitar/Nuno nerds like me that always loved the band Extreme, it looks like their multi-year tease of recorded music is about to drop.

The last 5 days they've released a random image/video on Instagram, erased their website which for years was only updated with occassional tour dates, and replaced it with 12 squares. THey've filled in one of the 5 squares each day as well.

Extreme

Several years ago they said they were wrapping recording and had a couple of albums worth of songs, next album out next year.

Then they went silent and a year or 2 ago said they'd scrapped it all after finding new inspiration, then were ready to drop the album right before covid. Didn't want to release an album w/out the ability to tour so again shelved it. Then past 2 years they've pretty much done everything but release an album.

Met Nuno many years ago when he was promoting a solo album he did. Came off as a giant dick.

Nuno kicks ass! Will have to check out the new album.

They still sound so good live. This was just a few years ago. I listen to them a lot in the late 90s

Yeah he seems insanely douchy any time I've seen him talk over the past 15 years, and his online posting drips of "I'm so motivational, people take my opinion so seriously so I'm going to drop some peace and love bombs on the world."

Not being an a-hole, just so full of his own enlightenment.

Haha that was the last 'big' thing to ever hit their website until it changed the last few days.

That entire live video is fantastic. They stick to the script but you can tell it is live and just done really f'ing well.

He's either double jointed or has ridiculously long arms. Good shape for a ?55? year old guy, but he's super tiny. Aside from much of his playing is wildly difficult, he plays w/the guitar slung so low his left arm is often straight while he's playing a solo. It looks like his wrist bends around the neck.

Or maybe I just need to lose 25 pounds of gut.

Nuno is pretty ornery, but I could listen to him play all day. I hope they actually do release a new album. Saudades de Rock was more good than meh.

I'm disappointed to hear that Nuno is such a giant tool, but I'm a master of separating the art from the artist. I've always like Extreme and the two main guys, Gary and Nuno. You have me excited about hearing some new music from these guys. I may even go back and listen to the 90% of their catalog that I've never bothered to listen to before, so that is a lot of new Extreme music for me.

One thing Nuno taught me decades ago in a Guitar World interview: He had the opportunity to play guitar on Eddie's gear. He thought he would sound like Eddie. He said it was then that he realized the sound comes from the hands and the player, not the equipment and guitar.

Nuno definitely still has it - first single.
