All fifty something books. I read the first 4 books 15 years or so ago, but got derailed and never finished the books, I forgot how fantastic they are. I love the "holographic narrative" style where they'll mention something happening without really explaining it "Horus pulled Fulgrim aside and they walked off talking" but you never find out what they said, until the next book when you see the same event from Fulgrim's POV.

Those of you who like Epic or High fantasy will probably like these

Also there are some great memes

95% of what I know of Warhammer comes from memes.

Just started these. On book 2 now. Love them so far. The story is fascinating and the different points of view are awesome.

It's a huge story that was originally slated as a trilogy and they were shocked at how well they did and just going. Ergo, it definitely ebbs and flows as it goes along.

I own them all and have been obsessed with Warhammer for close to two decades now. I have a couple of other threads going on it. I have self proclaimed as the WH Lore King here on TA in the past and continue to maintain that. They are wrapping up the Siege of Terra series as we speak. That is the follow up ending series to cap off the Heresy. Haven't started those yet.

The main series itself is awesome. The First Heretic is not only my favorite book in the series, it is legitimately one of my favorite books, period. Prospero Burns I also really loved. Some of them are pretty forgettable though. You'll figure it out as you go along. The first three were also fantastic as well and one of the best starts to a long series I can think of.

If you are new to this world in general, welcome! It's awesome. It's Star Wars but for adults.

I actually may just go ahead and do another read through now….

AWESOME! One of the things that I think is refreshing and stops the series from going stale is the number of different authors who participate in the novels. Even with Brandon Sanderson, who I think is one of the best writers alive, if you binge read his stuff you get a little bit tired of his style if you read too many in a row. With the HH author switching practically every novel, you get enough variety to keep it fresh.

I have read that after you read the first 3 Horus Heresy books you can jump into the 40k stuff and have a great foundation to the world. Is this true? I want to read all of the Horus stuff but also want to check out other stories. Any recommendations or must reads? Already have Gaunts Ghosts and Cephus Cain on the list.

I have a post buried down in the first page with a small write up that may be useful.
