TV Stars vs Movie Stars

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Streaming media has blurred or almost erased the line between TV and Movies, but how does an actor get put into one box initially? Will Tom Cruise ever show up in a series like "Yellowstone"? Or will Woody Harrelson or Matthew McConnehey ever show up on TV? (that was a joke)

I'm trying to decide which format I want to commit to if I ever decide to make a go at it in Hollywood. I guess since I'm still so young, I may choose movies so I can travel and be in exotic locations for 6 months at a time with beautiful movie stars. When I get old, I may find a good TV series to star in so I can live permanently in the Sherman Oaks area. Plus in TV, I can pretty much show up, read some lines, and go home. I won't have to worry about anything too physical.

I think it's all about what medium their best known work is in. For instance, Bryan Cranston is in plenty of movies, and Oscar nominated, but he'll always be best known as Walter White, and thus probably remembered as a tv star.

George Clooney, on the other hand, started on tv but only made it big once he did movies. Thus, movie star.

However I don't think there's any stigma left for being known for TV like there used to be.

I do think there's some people right on the line though, like Jennifer Aniston.

And personally I'd look at getting on as a voice actor for something like the Simpson, what a gig!
