What songs do you really enjoy that were totally out of nowhere when you first heard it?

Stuff that you doubt people have heard on the radio. You picked it up randomly somehow and now you play it all the time because you decided it's awesome.

My buddy pointed me to this one and now my wife and I play it all the time. No idea if it's ever been popular. I'm sure I never heard it before he sent it to me.

Bobby Darin bringing it in what I could only describe as a hippie folk rap.

I knew the original song, but when I heard this cover I really liked it.


Maybe it was just the high of coming off a long hike in Steamboat and capping it off with some beers at a local brew house, but someone chose this song on the jukebox and I immediately loved it. Can't believe I had never heard of them.

Most hardcore Heart fans will know that Led Zeppelin was an enormous influence on Ann and Nancy Wilson, and on several of their biggest hits (from the 70's, before their reincarnation as just another pop band) you can definitely hear it, but none more so than Bebe Le Strange, which could've been an actual LZ song.

I could just post Devin Townsend songs all day.. A guy with 25+ albums who has never been on the radio.

There was a song from Evil Edna's Horror Toilet. I think it may have been "Lend me a fiver" that I heard on SiriusXM years back. Strange band but also oddly good at the same time.

Stumbled across this band/song on TikTok last year. Only had a couple hundred monthly listeners on Spotify. But this song has been in my rotation ever since.

Was listening to a Keith Whitley song on Apple Music, and just let it keep playing a "like" mix after, and this song was played.

That song got my attention, so I started sampling his catalog and found this one:



I was searching Apple Music for the Shenandoah version of the song, and saw this one. I wondered if it was the same one (and I'm always wanting to hear different versions of a song), and it was. I rarely think covers are as good as the original, but this is one where I think his voice makes the song mean more. Just love it.
