Pretty excited about this but I love MJF. I read his book ("No Time Like The Future") 2 years ago. His attitude fighting his illness is pretty remarkable. I didn't know enough about Parkinson's and he goes into some detail of the challenges he's had go through since getting the disease.

Probably one of my favorite actors. He had this boyish charm about him in his filming days.

Watched this last night. Very moving.

For a short while, Michael J. Fox was the biggest star on the planet, with a hit television show and a blockbuster movie. It's easy to forget how "everywhere" he was -- talk shows, magazine covers, commercials, late night, etc.

It can be tough to watch him struggle now but the story is inspiring and well done. The filmmaker uses a lot of scenes from Fox's movie/TV roles to illustrate his real-life issues, which I thought was a unique way of adding visuals to the narrative.

All in all, it's worth the time.

This was one of the best edited documentaries I have EVER seen. They were able to have Michael tell a story or the narrator discuss what was happening to Michael at the moment and use cuts from his movies and TV shows to express the emotion of what was said. It also shows how he hid the disease from everyone for a decade by movie tricks or things he learned to prevent it from showing

It was very well done. What Michael did to the "wunderkind" at NBC and how low he was before Family Ties is worth watching the documentary alone. I had no idea how hard he was working back then.

Is this only on Apple TV? Family Ties was our favorite sitcom when I was a kid. MJF is greatness (as is the wrestler).

I watched the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode recently where Michael J Fox lives above Larry. So freaking funny.

They use the clip where MJF shakily hands Larry a soda and it spews everywhere when he opens it. "Did you do that on purpose?" asks Larry.

"Parkinson's," MJF deadpans.

It was good show covering his life and disease. It was extremely well done in using clips from shows with narration to tell the story. High quality production, of course sad.

Just watched a recent interview with MJ Fox.

"Optimism is sustainable. If you are grateful, you have something to look forward to." MJ Fox

I found that quote very moving. Inspiration, bad ass, and American Treasure.

I thought the way they used clips was brilliantly done.

Do you see this being available any other format?

Definitely worth the watch if you have Apple TV+. Also, Family Ties is streaming on Paramount+.

OP follow up.

Finally had a chance to watch this tonight and it did not disappoint. Echo some of the same sentiments here. The integration of his scenes/clips helped to tell the story…and they each seemed to fall beautifully into place within context of narration.

Listening to him describe how the illness crept up on him was painful. I can't imagine how scary and difficult that must have been for him.

At the end I saw that he was incredibly lucky to have the support and the resources he has to battle his illness…but even more lucky to be blessed with such a great attitude/outlook on life. He has accepted the disease gracefully while still not allowing it to keep him down.

Best documentary I've seen in a few years.

I can't answer that but my hunch is that it's unlikely to be streaming elsewhere. Seems like Apple would want to have this exclusively.
