I was too young to appreciate MASH.

Lately I'd say I have no idea how people got hooked on Big Bang. I don't know if it qualifies as "great" since I can't make it through one show.

Anything Monty python. Don't get it. Not funny. Just sucks.
Star Wars.

Tried to watch as a kid. Didn't hold my attention. Tried to watch as adult…still not a movie I got. I started whatever the first one was never finished. Never started another one since.

I just can't binge watch shows anymore. My wife and I get an hour, maybe hour and a half at night after the kid goes down, and then I sometimes stay up an hour after she goes to bed. Long way to say that anything with multiple seasons that we haven't watched would take us weeks or months if we watch nothing else, and that just doesn't happen anymore.

So there's a lot that I've missed, basically anything I wasn't interested in before being married/having a kid. Lost, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things.

Friends.

I enjoyed it well enough I just don't grasp the borderline hysteria over it. It was the typical sitcom.... ridiculous situations in which everyone involved comes out at the end of the show a better person for having faced the "difficulties" of the given episode.

Friends sucks. Don't worry about not liking it.

A lot of these shows have me hooked during their first one or two seasons but lose me after that.

The Last Kingdom and Cobra Kai did that to me.

Friends (please)
Stranger Things (liked first season, particularly the soundtrack - Joy Division, The Clash, etc.; every other season I just haven't gotten into)
Yellowstone (characters bugged me - stopped watching after season three or four??)
Mad Men (never finished it)
**hitts Creek (never finished it)
Dark (believe we watched all of it; believe I slept through most of it)
Peaky Blinders (never could get into this one)

Cobra Kai (mostly enjoyed it, but this one is really testing the plausibility meter for me after the last season)

We loved Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Seinfeld, The Wire, The Office

I can't get into shows where every main character is a terrible person. Consequently I didn't finish Breaking Bad (although it was cool to see all the filming spots from my hometown) and Succession.

I've always wondered why that's the case for some people.

For me, I don't care how awful people are as long as they're interesting, or funny, or both. I don't need to like someone to be entertained by them.
Everyone in It's Always Sunny is awful and it's the best sitcom of all time imo.

Arrested Development is one of the best sitcoms of all time as well, and all the characters are pretty terrible people too. Maybe it just works better in comedies.

Without listing any....I have to have somebody to pull for. Just give me one person to pull for.

Some of these series that are just so angsty and edgy where we are just supposed to understand their motivations when they are bing total sh*ts.....eh, I can get that from real life.

Not how I want to spend my time off.

This is my main answer. Prime FX did some really great shows in the 00s and 10s but the only people I could root for were Raylan Givens and Ellen Parsons.

Every other show had terrible people as the protagonists.

Arrested Development is a bad call because you are obviously supposed to be rooting for Bateman and Cera as the two people with an ounce of sanity or integrity. Buster and Tobias weren't bad people, just stupid.

It's hard to explain precisely. I like my entertainment to bring me joy or spark some sort of curiosity, and shows like those two bum me out instead. I don't need characters to be "good" to enjoy them, but if the overal arc is downward, it's not my jam. There's enough things in real life that bum me out, so I just prefer to use my leisure time watching things that don't. I'm glad other people enjoy that sort of show; it's just not for me.
I'm right there with you. I choose not to watch sad movies or shows. We tried Breaking Bad and I just couldn't get into it. I do love Succession though - such great characters. But on the other hand, I don't get the point of watching a movie where the boat sinks and everyone (almost) dies or the family is trapped in the mountains and has to eat each other to stay alive. I like Action movies - John Wick never gets old, but I guess my brain is able to separate that from reality. But there is enough sadness in real life, no need to voluntarily expose myself to more of it on the screen.

Yep

Had plenty of stress and sadness and drama in real life. I don't seek it out for entertainment.
