Also why is nothing live? It's like non stop random awards, no audience and realllly strange.

Blame the writers' strike.
Serious question… they need the writers to be like… and the award for the best {insert award} goes to… ?!?
They don't want presenters to disrupt the show by talking about it. Had the planned host and several presenters back out as a show of solidarity
TCTTS could tell you better than me, but I expect the writing is for everything around the awards - skits, "witty" banter, etc. I also wouldn't be too surprised if a lot of talent backed out in a show of solidarity with the writers.AMW2010 said:

It's most likely because Drew Barrymore backed out as host.
