I really wanted to like this show, because I enjoyed the original (1984-1982). It has John Larroquette in it. And Melissa Rauch, who I enjoyed watching in The Big Bang Theory.

It's not that it's a bad show. It's just not that great. Or not as good as the original. (Although it's been 30 years since I've seen the original and it's not streaming anywhere, so it's kind of hard to do an objective comparison.)

Need more than just John from the old cast. Its the chemistry we remember. It would have taken award level writing to give the show a chance in this format. Hard to recreate it without the essential pieces. Didn't find the writing to be anything but ok and expected.

Haven't watched it. How are they writing Dan Fielding? I can't imagine it's anything like the original character. No way that would fly on network TV in 2023.

He's basically the opposite of his previous character now.

I get things change but rebooting Night Court and then completely changing the only original character doesn't strike me as a winning formula.
