Do you have a band that you've recently found, but they've been around for a while?

Somehow I missed Social Distortion growing up. I heard a song of theirs a few weeks ago somewhere and looked them up on Spotify. Prison Bound, Ball and Chain, When Angels Sing, and I was Wrong are great songs.

Also, I bet the lead singer could pull off singing Billy Idol's songs. He has a similar snarl in his singing voice.

I grew up on early 70's and 80's punk and post-punk music like Joy Division, The Misfits, The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, The Clash, The Replacements, etc. and as I got older I still liked all the same music but also enjoyed bands like New Order, The Pixies and The Smiths. That gives you a general idea of my tastes.

One band that is relatively recent that I enjoy and that is new to me is Cage the Elephant. I've also really enjoyed some Death Cab for Cutie tunes which I did not listen to when I was younger. I'd say the same about The Talking Heads. Didn't listen to them when I was younger, but really enjoy them now.

I'm 50 years old now so my taste in punk stems from my youth, and not the Johnny-come-lately hipster doofuses wearing Misfits and Ramones t-shirts that they bought at Target but likely never listened to their music.

Manchester Orchestra.
I knew of them, but didn't know any of their stuff. I'm a huge Jimmy Eat World fan, so once their co-headlining tour was announced, I decided to start diving into their stuff. So glad I did and I cannot wait to see them live.
"The Silence" floored me when I heard it the first time, and I'm hoping they play it when they come through.

Completely missed Broken Bells when they came out 13 years ago. Great stuff although anything Danger Mouse does is usually pretty good. Very tight and their live stuff is played and mixed better than studio recordings.

I'd like to add Alone and Forsaken to that list, that's my favorite cover of theirs.

I've been a huge MO fan for a long time, but I've still discovered some of their older songs recently that I never gave a fair shake when the albums came out. "I Know How to Speak" and "Leaky Breaks" to name a couple.

In recent times, not many.. I recently discovered sleep token with their third album coming out this month, and recently came across Dimmu Borgir's Eonian album and fell in love with it (though I have heard their name for a long time).. they've been around 25+ years.

In the past though, many fit the list.. opeth on 8th album, metallica on 5th, gojira on 5th, volbeat on 4th, devin townsend on I don't know 20th or 25th album or something, muse on 3rd.

Definitely seems like most bands/artists I like, I found about them early in their career; 1st or 2nd album, aside from bands that predate my age of course.

This is my favorite band going right now, and they don't seem to miss with anything they put out anymore. Really excited for the tour with JEW

I've recently run across Volbeat too. Shotgun Blues might be my favorite song right now.

I listened to nothing but country when I was a kid in Houston. (KENR 1070 AM, and sometimes KNUZ, if I recall those correctly) Never listened to FM country stations because I somehow got the idea they weren't "the right kinda country."

I became a rock and roll fan in Jr high and high school, increasingly harder rock... but I never completely stopped listening to country. I almost feel like I could write a book on country music, but somehow I really missed out on Emmylou Harris. I bought one of her albums in the 90s, but didn't listen to it very much (it was on vinyl, and I was listening mostly to CDs out of convenience.)

Emmylou Harris is so under-rated, I can't believe I only really started appreciating her within the last 2-3 years.

One of my favorite bands. Saw them open up for Brand New in 2015 and have been hooked ever since. Bad Books (Andy Hull, Rob McDowell, and Kevin Devine) is really good too.

They also wrote the soundtrack to Swiss Army Man.

I faded away from country for about 10 years and completely missed the boat on Turnpike Trubadors....I stumbled on them about a year ago after some a thread here on the Entertainment board.....they're fantastic

They're still out there touring and hitting the road hard. Saw them 4 years ago, was hoping to see them this year but the show in Houston got postponed/cancelled.

Music of my youth as well, throw in Industrial (Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb) then I would think you are me.
