John Taylor and Roger Taylor of Duran Duran.
John Taylor and Tony Thompson.

Duran Duran are still putting out albums. And Roger joined back with the group about 10 years ago. Not sure if great would define anything they have done since then though.

John Taylor and Steve Ferrone were pretty awesome on the Notorious album.

Regarding Power Station… yes! John and Tony Thompson were awesome. I love playing Get It On and Sone Like It Hot on my drums. And I think Roger actually played the beginning part of Some Like It Hot.
Tony was set to join Zeppelin after Live Aid, but then he got in a bad car crash shortly thereafter and everything got scrapped. Would have been a great fit, had uncommon swing and the power similar to JB.

Saw Power Station with OMD opening in 1986 at Astroworld. Friend talked me into going so he could set me up with a family friend that his mom really thought would be a great match for me (and for her).

She was not.

They jammed for a couple days before Tony's accident but they were never close to actually reforming Zeppelin.

Iron Maidem by a huge margin. Bass and drums and guitar symphony all amazing.

There was a thread here a few years back and I said Eric Kretz was the greatest drummer of all time and got ridiculed. My how the turns have tabled.

As the OP on this thread I'll say you should have been ridiculed for that nonsense.
