Apparently Phil Collins auditioned but was turned down for one of the leads in the Bugaloos. He helped form Genesis not long after.
wow....there must be some misunderstanding, there must be some kind of mistake.......i knew the dude was fascinated with the Alamo, but the Bugaloos?

D.C. Follies was very under-appreciated Krofft greatness!

Loved DC Follies back in the day! A show like that today would be fantastic, though I'm sure both sides of the aisle would have a fit about how they are portrayed.

I can slightly remember most of this. The Kroft stuff was in fact absolutely a trip. I grew up "rural" and we got we got on the UHF antenna, no cable, and I loved Land of the Lost but it was so few and far between. And dad didn't let us sit around in the morning and watch tv as we had chores. Even after school we had chores.

Legit, the kids media was kind of weird in the 70's to early 80's. I remember Banana Splits. But there was this show I want to say called Danger Island that was pretty trippy as well and always devolved in to some fight scene where this big black sailor guy would kick everyone's ass with some wooden thing.

Then along came GI Joe, Transformers, Star Blazers, and Robotech. And the Reagan Era was official and all was right with the world. The 70's were officially over. Thank you Ronald Reagan.

My family finally got cable around 78 or 79 and we could get a big channel in Chicago and the Bozo the Clown show was big on that channel. I never got into it and to this day have no use for clowns. Give me the zany characters and trippy sets and costumes of the Krofft Bros over the clown any day.

When I think about it Capt Kanagaroo had some freaky stuff going on and I loved his show too.

Danger Island was a serial that ran on the Banana Splits show. The Banana Splits and friends would have their intro and say their funny dialogue then the show would air a cartoon or live action adventure story. Once that story was done the Banana Splits would come back with more one liners and the ending credits.

I can barely pull those files from the old database but that sounds right. Thanks.

Jan-Michael Vincent, some chick in pigtails, a kick ass hero named Link? (Looked it up, "Morgan"), and a half-mute named Chongo that swung from the trees. Always fought savage bumbling natives. Great show.

Was reading about the guy that played Chongo. Claims to have survived a firing squad in Korea and a plane crash in Texas in 1955. If he was born in 1930 he would've been in his late 30s when Danger Island was made.

It always was "Uh-Oh, Chongo" and then he swooped in and whipped everyone.

Danger Island! I think the premise was a shipwreck or plane crash, and the pilot/captain and some kind of a Sinbad/pirate dude and his sidekick vs a bunch of native headhunter types in white warpaint, as I vaguely remember it.

This explains why so much of the content on YouTube fan sites has been taken down over the last year. You used to be able to find complete episodes of shows and now all you can find are intro clips and short clips with commentary.

I've never heard of this shows nor do I think I've ever been high enough to watch them.
