I've never seen so many people on social media so blatantly discussing/arguing cameos and plot points in a movie, at least 48 hours before the general public even has a chance to see the movie for themselves. Without any warning whatsoever, I've even seen multiple bootleg screenshots as well. When did everyone suddenly lose their minds, along with their common decency, and suddenly decide *this* was the movie that was okay to spoil like crazy?

Anyway, this thread is for tomorrow, when the rest of us can finally start catching up with all the assh*les. I won't be seeing it until Saturday myself, so I'll see you guys back here then (though, I'm sure I'll already have learn every twist and turn in the meantime).

That was a ****ing blast. Theater gave it an ovation.

Clooney got a HUGE reaction.

As did Nic Cage. Never expected to see him.

Also, it has to be said. Incredibly fun movie, entertaining, but my god that CGI was bad at times. Everything in the dome where they go back in time looked like the burly brawl scene in Matrix Reloaded.

Also, was surprised there wasn't a BTTF joke about his plan to get hit by lightning. Like, come on. It was teed up perfectly.

I mean it's fine but I'm pretty tired of multiverse movies personally. And honestly I think I might be hitting saturation on comic book movies with the exception of the spiderverse flicks.

Unless BTTF takes place in the DC universe

I thought it was a pretty good popcorn munching, comicbook movie. It was great seeing all the different Batmans and Supermans. I really like this whole multiverse kick all the studios are going through, it's great seeing all of the old timers that we all love along side the current crop of super heroes…

They took more from Flashpoint than I thought they would. Still irritating they didn't go the Thawne route though. Dark Barry was silly.

Ezra Miller was better in this but he is still a miscast Barry Allen.

Director claims the bad CGI in parts was on purpose. Not sure I buy that.

It was enjoyable and a fun time but I certainly am ready for the DCEU to end. Spiderverse was much better.

That cgi on Batman in the opening fight was laughably bad…

This is a nitpick with Affleck but it bugs me that his Bruce Wayne is up and down 30-40 lbs in every movie. BVS, Justice League (Whedon), Justice League (Snyder), this.

I know it's been related to his personal issues but it takes me out of it a bit.

Really enjoyed this one. Yeah, a bit of a rip off on No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness but still lots of fun. Especially enjoyed first Bruce Wayne fight with 25 or 6 to 4 playing, the last scene with Barry's mom in the grocery store and the Clooney cameo. Thumbs up.

When I saw Superman fighting a giant spider thing…I knew what was coming and loudly went, "NO THEY DIDN'T!!" lol. That was great!

I thought the movie was pretty good (especially compared to other DC movies). CGI was so bad I couldn't believe it. The part with the Barry's meeting each other and learning powers went a little too long and the third act with the spheres colliding could have been better.

But overall the story was enjoyable. I even got some allergies when Barry sees his mom again at the very end. If anyone is lurking and wondering if they should see it in theaters, I would definitely recommend it.

Nic Cage was spoiled for me by Twitter but Clooney was a total surprise. Loved it.

That was a lot of fun. It was a purely nostalgia movie for me. I had so many smiles at seeing every all those cameos. Totally unexpected was Christopher Reeve and George Reeves. Doubt that was Helen Slater (Supergirl) but didn't matter, that movie sucked ass. Loved seeing all the Batmans, thought I heard Caesar Romero's Joker laugh with the brief look at Adam West's Batman. Was totally surprised to see George Clooney even though his movie is literally one of the worst 3 ever put to film. Bummed to not see Henry Cavill in all those worlds - seems WB just has a personal problem with him, at least as Superman. I laughed out loud when Nic Cage turned around while fighting the giant spider thing.

Regarding the actual movie, I really enjoyed this one. It was a good popcorn movie. I thought the idea of opening all these alternate realities was well done, especially with bringing back General Zod and the explanation for why Henry Cavill's Superman was not present in that reality. Plus bringing in Supergirl finally gave some closure to the theory that was floated about at the time of Man of Steel, when Kent sees an empty pod aboard the Kryptonian ship that was supposedly where Kara was.

The best part was Barry making the tough decision to let his mom die, and their conversation there at the end.

Probably a guarantee on him hating it since that other poster outed him as a secret undercover Disney shill! TCTTS wouldn't dare mess with the mouse on here.

That was fun. Agree the cgi was pitiful but loved yhe story, old footage, and cameos. All the connections back to Keaton's universe were great. Best Dc film in a while. It was epic in imax.

Enjoyed it for what it was. You can't compare it to the recent Batman movies. Different type of film. But definitely my favorite of all the other DC films. And easily more enjoyable than most of the marvel films too.

While I didn't outright hate it, and it's definitely not the worst superhero movie ever made (admittedly, it was "fun" at times, and I thought some of Batman's fight choreography was cool), tonight I *did* hit rock bottom in terms of my interest in/excitement for the superhero era. Not even an hour in, I found myself so incredibly exhausted by the genre as a whole, while simultaneously hitting my limit on multiversal storytelling, to the point where I'm questioning whether I even want to go down that road anymore with Marvel (hopefully Gunn's DCU keeps it all to a single universe). I'm just so sick of what the multiverse has done to blockbuster storytelling, and I cannot imagine watching four more years of this nonsense.

"I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures. It's like, 'Here's this person. Here's that person. And they're fighting!'"

- Michael Shannon, earlier this week, doing press for The Flash

I realize what Shannon is hilariously complaining about - on the "promotional" tour, no less - could be said for just about any superhero movie, but I'm right there with him, having never felt that feeling more than I did tonight. It was all just fan service overdrive, without the story/character work to back any of it up, to the point where I was cringing every time the audience clapped for anything having to do with Keaton/Batman. I usually *love* cheering in movie theaters, but this felt like trained seals barking for treats, out of sheer habit, not because any of it was actually good or considered or handled with care and respect.

Keaton felt cheated.

Sasha Calle felt cheated.

Zod was a nothing villain.

The time travel/multiverse mechanics made absolutely no sense.

And every last frame looked like soulless, horribly lit sh*t.

I don't know, this thing just broke me, to the point where I need a looooong break from superhero movies in general. There's zero chance I'll be watching Blue Beetle (August 18) or Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20), so in terms of DC, this is it for me until Superman: Legacy on July 11, 2025, and I could not be more relieved. I guess I'll probably watch Joker: Folie a Deux, out of morbid interest, but at least that's a year and a half away (October 4, 2024). I'd welcome this break/reset even more if not for James Gunn and a handful of fanboy critics singing this movie's praises, somehow calling it one of the greatest superhero movies ever made, which makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills. The fact that Gunn, in particular, is shilling for this thing suddenly makes me nervous for the DCU, but I'm also so numb to this crap right now that I don't really give a sh*t anymore. If the DCU sucks, so be it. At least we'll still have Reeves' Batman, which is maybe the only superhero movie/franchise left that I'm genuinely looking forward to.

For the immediate future, I take solace in the fact that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two, and David Fincher's The Killer are all just around the corner, making for maybe my most-ever anticipated stretch of "tangible" blockbusters/thrillers, made by four of my favorite filmmakers, and I can think of nothing better to cleanse my palette/reenergize me.

Btw, can someone please explain to me what the hell happened in the courtroom at the end? The entire reason Barry did what he did - and thus the entire reason the movie existed - was because Barry had already watched the security cam footage and discovered that his dad never looked up. It was their last ditch effort, and when it didn't prove fruitful, that's when Barry made the decision to go back in time. But then, suddenly, when they play the footage in court at the end of the movie, his dad miraculously looks up? Huh? Was it because Barry's original timeline was changed (hence the Clooney of it all), and the footage was something that miraculously changed as well? If so, doesn't that completely go against the theme of the movie? I actually really liked the "we can't fix things, all we can do is help" theme/lesson… one that is seemingly made irrelevant by the last five minutes.

After Barry talked to his mom and took the can of beans out of her cart, when he went to put it back he moved the beans to the top shelf. He makes a comment at the end something about the beans being on the top shelf now.
