No mention of the King of Soul? Otis Redding?

As an aside, I moved to Houston in '83 to a tiny Montrose dump of an apartment. A couple days later I was next door and there was a guy passed out drunk in a chair - turns out it was Hicks. They told me he was destined to be the greatest comic in the world and they were right. Hicks was brilliant.

I'm curious as to how you settled on Gus Grissom but not Ed White or Roger Chaffee.hph6203 said:

I watched him on local Houston stages long before HBO/MTV; e.g. I grew familiar with him on open mic Wed nights at Comix Annex (free admission!). He could go on long epic rants about anything and everything. The clubs would let him go all night because he was just in total control on stage. I'm sure he topped an hour on stage many times. I grew up in a strict household with a narrow worldview; he helped me view life with a wider perspective.superunknown said:chico said:I saw him about 20 times in Houston. Man, thank you for sharing this story! I think the first time I was introduced to him was either an HBO special or a bit on MTV's "Half hour comedy hour" back in the early 90s. Huge influence on my life. His way of thinking just made all the sense in the world to me. Bought "Relentless" and listened to it countless times back in the day and of course everything I could get my hands on after that, I'd grab. What a talent. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that his bit about "it's just a ride" became my core philosophy.

Just wait for the CIA to do to him what they did to his dad and uncle.Know Your Enemy said:Did I miss some news in the last few days or did you mean Sr?hph6203 said:

Because I get a 3 for one deal, just like I get a 9 for one deal with Kobe, and Gus is the most famous. Gotta learn how to play the game.double aught said:I'm curious as to how you settled on Gus Grissom but not Ed White or Roger Chaffee.hph6203 said:

That's a weird take.. Are you saying they were on the verge of breaking up before he died?jwag said:
They broke up after he died. Who knows what may have come, maybe nothing.

I like the way you think. You probably should check with the rule maker as to the validity of your loophole though.hph6203 said:Because I get a 3 for one deal, just like I get a 9 for one deal with Kobe, and Gus is the most famous.
