I am in the process of going back and re-watching Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. I think Atlantis is a better watch the 2nd time around. I wonder if they will resume either franchise with a new cast. I have to think with advances in CGI, that it would be a hit again

SG1 and Atlantis are such great shows. The rewatchability is great.

It looks like a new show/movie is in the works at Amazon after they acquired MGM

SG1 is probably my favorite show of all time. Atlantis was up there too, but the ending always felt rushed to me.

There was apparently supposed to have been an Atlantis movie after the series ended - kinda like Continuum and Ark of Truth for SG1. However, that Atlantis movie was eventually scrapped. Not sure how much of the decision was due to the absolutely execrable Stargate: Universe series that was being made by that time, but I'm sure it has something to do with it.

I really enjoyed the lore of SGU but wished they had lost some of the interpersonal drama.

I like the entire franchise. The issue for me is that at the time there were so many great franchises on TV at the time through SG's run. We had multiple Star treks, BSG, Babylon 5 and subsequent series/movies, and Earth: Final Conflict (though quality went down for this as the series progressed) off the top of my head. SGU was much more gritty and I think hit its stride after the first season but the damage was basically done by then. People from I remember expected more SGA tonality but SGU decided to be a bit more real. Even when we saw O'Neill he was more serious in tone.

I'd be interested to see what they do but I'm not sure I want to see. I would like to see more SGA but I also want to see a resolution of SGU. I think they will probably try to just make it it's own thing in the end though.

I imagine they are going a completely different route considering it doesn't sound very good that anyone gets brought back that was involved with running/writing the previous shows.

I doubt RDA wants to come back. There probably some SGU people that haven't done anything in some time that would probably do a job. Same with some of the SGA people outside of Jason Mamoa. But I do agree they're going to go a new direction/team.

I'm sure some actors would come back if asked. I just think that new show runners and writers would prefer a fresh start as opposed to trying to finish someone else's work and go from there.

Stargate is not only the greatest sci fi of all time, but I dare say the greatest television of all time. I do a rewatch almost every year
