I originally had no interest in watching this since I already watched Dopesick, but it's actually really good and a different style to a similar story.

Peter Berg created it - same guy that did Friday Night Lights and Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins/ David Koresh in the Netflix series) plays a lead role.

They style is really mid-late 90s with the fashion, music and all that other stuff. I recommend it.

The woman that plays the US Attorneys Office fraud investigator is great.

I'll agree that this was a well done show and highly enjoyable and interesting. Agree that the lady who doggedly goes after this company was fantastic. Relatively quick watch and well worth the investment.

I enjoyed both series and think each has its own strengths:

Dopesick:

• Great performance by Michael Keaton as the doctor who fights against oxy. His character arc takes several unexpected turns and he handles it all very well.
• Michael Stuhlbarg's portrayal of Richard Sackler in this series was more interesting than Matthew Broderick's in Painkiller. I enjoy Stuhlbarg in everything he does and he brings a sinister quality to Sackler where Broderick plays him off as goofy, eccentric and crazy.
• I think this series tells a better and more interesting overall story. Does a much better job capturing the extent to which oxy took over peoples' lives.
• Does a better job explaining the actions Purdue Pharma took to capture the pain market and then increase doses to increase profits.

Painkiller:

• Best choice Berg made in creating this series is that he begins each episode with a real life person talking about the family member he or she lost to oxy. Doing this gives the series an emotional depth that can't be obtained otherwise.
• As others have mentioned, Uzo Aduba is great as the prosecutor who works the case against the Sacklers for years. She has a quiet intensity that you really believe.
• Taylor Kitsch is good in the role of hard-working husband and father who gets hooked on Oxy after his doctor prescribes it.
