I liked that other thread's idea. https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3394471

But it got me thinking about books! I've reread just a select few number of books over the years. What book or book series would you love to be able to go back and read for the first time again?

For me:
  • Series - The Wheel of Time. I've read other fantasy/sci fi but this has always been my favorite.
  • Single Book - The Alienist

Easiest answer in the world, for me. The Dresden Files.

Lord of the Rings, probably. Hell, I probably haven't read them since I was a teen, anyway, and I can only imagine what I might not have fully understood back then.

I'll say there is a handful of books that if I read them now it would be like the first time b/c I don't remember very much, starting with Dracula.

Harry Potter. My mom was a teacher when I was a kid, and when I was 7 she came home with the first book, mentioning how they were getting popular in England. I got hooked, and those novels got me into reading. It's a pure nostalgia choice.

At least 1 of those books, Half Blood Prince, would be on my list of barely remember anything.

David Copperfield or All the Pretty Horses

As a series that I read in order, Dead Man's Walk. That series is pretty close to perfection.

I got my brother to read them after I had started. He would call or text me almost daily to talk about ASOS. I kept a text from him about halfway through the book saying "I can't wait to see Joffrey vs. Rob on the battlefield!"

The second half of that book is like Avengers: Endgame. Event after event with huge buildup and huge payoff.

There's a service that sends you Dracula chapters on the corresponding day of the year for your reading pleasure: https://draculadaily.substack.com/

Classic!

I loved The Great Brain as a kid. Was thinking this when I read the topic as well.

I re-read them about 10 years ago to my son. Both he and I loved them!
