Knew he was having some health problems, but didn't think he was that close to the end. So many great memories listening to his music and going to his concerts.

Seems impossible that he's dead. He was such a one-of-a-kind. RIP, Jimmy.

No!

He is a big part of some great memories with my best friend and dad, who have both passed. Very sad news.

Dammit, this was not what I wanted to find out first thing thing this morning.

I'm Usually not affected by celebrity deaths, but this one is going to hurt for a long time. So many memories listening to his music, reading his books, and attending his concerts. Jimmy was my all-time favorite Musician to see live in concert. Over the years, I saw Jimmy Buffett close to 30 times, if not more.

RIP Jimmy, Thanks for all the Great Memories

He was part of the soundtrack of my whole life. I hope he's having a cheeseburger in paradise. Glad I got to see him back in 2012.

Man. That's not how I wanted to start the day. Buddy got me into him back in the mid-90s. Fortunate enough to see him a few times and now my son has taken a liking to him. Had hoped to take him to a show.

RIP, Son of a Sailor. He led a good life all the way.

Grew up along the Alabama Gulf Coast, so Jimmy Buffett was a part of my soundtrack from the start...packed a lot of living into his 76 years, and never saw him mail in a show.

I know five people who own a bar that will be listening to the "if you like Pina coladas" song in his honor.

Jimmy sung about the beach, being a beach bum, the Caribbean, and margaritas, performed on stage in shorts and barefoot, and turned that lifestyle into a billion dollar empire. His shows meant summer was here and if you weren't at the beach on vacation his music and his shows would take you there. Legend.

Wouldn't they listen to Jimmy Buffett songs instead? The pina colada song is by Rupert Holmes.

Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic. This one is tragic. RIP Jimmy.

No words. JB was one of a kind, and his music means so much to me.

Everyone knows "Margaritaville," but his catalog is deep and impressive.

I gotta admit. I teared up reading the news, and that's not something that happens a lot.

Just heard, totally shocked, can't really explain what his attitude or latitudes meant. Used his song lines multiple times a day to express a thought.
Sang "little miss magic" to my daughter more times than can remember, read his books, and named dogs after songs and characters

When I was a freshman in college, first semester, an older guy down the hall pulled me into his room and spent about an hour explaining the importance of "Margaritaville" to me. For some reason, that had a big impact on me. I loved Jimmy Buffet ever since.

It's been a lovely cruise. RIP Jimmy.

Quote:

I have been called a lot of things in these fifty years on the good old planet Earth, but the thing I believe I am the most is lucky. I have always looked at life as a voyage, mostly wonderful, sometimes frightening. In my family and friends I have discovered treasure more valuable than gold. I have seen and done things that I read about as a kid. I have dodged many storms and bounced across the bottom on occasion, but so far Lady Luck and the stars by which I steer have kept me off the rocks. I have paid attention when I had to and have made more right tacks than wrong ones to end up at this moment -- with a thousand ports of call behind me and, I hope, a thousand more to see. My voyage was never a well-conceived plan, nor will it ever be. I have made it up as I went along.

Thanks for everything, Jimmy.

ARRRRRG!!!

Bought my first Buffet albums, "A1A," "Havana Daydreamin'" and "Living and Dying in 3/4 Time" in the PX in Germany. His ability to put lyrics together was magical.

"I can see the day when my hair's full gray

And I finally disappear . . . "

I guess Jimmy Buffett really doesn't live in Key West anymore.

Some of the first music my parents shared with us, listening to 8 tracks and then tapes in the car. I'm actually a little sad about this. I normally don't care much when celebrities die, but the family nostalgia for this one is getting to me.

My parents loved Jimmy Buffett. They would sing "Why don't we get drunk and screw" which was a little disturbing.

The tailgating at his shows was legendary. Some of my favorite moments are when I was transported to a tropical oasis in the middle of the Toyota Stadium parking lot in Frisco.
