I just cannot fathom how very many 20 to 30 year olds are lining up to watch Home Alone.

Not many. But they all saw it when they were 8. And will show it to their kids when they are 8.

Lining up where? Their living rooms?

This is fascinating to me. How old are you? Was your tv ever on during the holidays?

I watch Home Alone and Christmas Vacation every year. I've never seen A Christmas Story. I've seen parts of that movie, but never the whole thing. It just didn't seem good to me.

It's not good.

I've probably seen Endgame like a dozen times and I tell my kid that and she busts out her Frozen bluray and is all "hold my capri sun".

We had a family come stay with us during snowmageddon because they lost power all week and had a baby and a 2 year old. That 2 year old must have watched Frozen 20 times that week.

Should have been watching Snow Day.

Never seen Home Alone or A Christmas Story either. Wildly overrated indeed.

How can you have an opinion on movies you've never seen?

If you're measuring eyeballs on Christmas movies as some big deciding factor, the trophy now probably goes to Elf

There was a stretch of years where it seemed like League of Their Own was always on TV

The correct answer is probably legit Wizard of Oz though

Home Alone has about two generations head start on Elf. No contest.

True Lies was TBS once per week for years.

Snow White. Released in 1937 and seems to still be in the rotation for today's kids, so whether you're 5 or 90, you probably saw it at least once early on in life.

Elf is terrible. I like Will Ferrell movies, but that one sucks.

It's probably one of those early animated Disney movies. Movies that have stood the test of time over many generations and cultures. Movies like Gone With The Wind are not being watched these days. And there are so many more people in the world than there were back then.

There are more people in the world. There are also more choices for entertainment.

Kramer covered this when he fired Raquel Welch from "Scarsdale Surprise".

My town had two screens in one theater building up until I was in middle school. That was the same in thousands of small towns. That or drive-ins.

You had to see whatever was playing. GWTW was it for a long time in some of those towns.

If we're only multiple viewings as one, I think it's Wizard of Oz. It spans many generations, so even adults who refuse to watch kids movies probably saw it when they were a kid, where they would not have seen a newer movie. Also, it gets played fairly often on TV, so people might see it on and think, "I should probably watch this to find out what the fuss is all about." Also, it's a classic that remains somewhat watchable. There are a lot of parents who feel like their kids, "need to see it.". Your still see Dorothy costumes every year at Halloween. I think that's a good sign that kids are still watching it.

And then yall had kids and those kids watched the Disney classics, as yall did. And your kids (or grandkids) didn't watch GWTW. That's my point, there are so many more options now but kids are still watching the classic Disney movies and are not watching those old movies that don't appeal to kids

No way Shawshank competes with any of the movies mentioned thus far, imo.

My money would be on Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer since it's been broadcast on a major network for almost 60 years and probably catches a wider audience year-over-year than 'It's a wonderful life, or 'Home Alone'. I'd bet more kids have seen that than GWTW or TWOZ in recent generations.

Never mind. I guess it's considered a movie. A TV movie.

I googled most watched movies on disney plus and it mentioned movies I've never heard of. We have disney plus and my kids haven't watched these movies either. They'd never fudge that data to try and persuade folks to watch.

Over at our house it's always Moana, frozen, toy story, and encanto

The answer can't be Gone With the Wind, I've seen Freddy Got Fingered more times than I've seen that movie.

I would think there are a ton of people who haven't seen Titanic. Remember it made its money from teenage girls going to see it 10 times in the theaters. Plus it doesn't get heavy rotation on tv.

Wizard of Oz has to be up there, based on how long it has been around, has been fairly popular, and gets shown on tv during Thanksgiving or Christmas or some holiday every year.

How many people have watched it just to see how it lines up with Dark Side of the Moon?

It was mentioned. But I don't think any movie that doesn't have the under 12yo demo stands a chance. It may win the PG13 title though.
