Dungeons & Dragons. Picking up more details, enjoying the storytelling, the acting, the humor. Watching on closed captioning helps. That's a more recent example.

Name one of yours. What did you appreciate more over time?

Anchorman. First time... meh, i thought it was okay. Second watch, I thought it was hilarious. Every subsequent watch, it gets better and better.

Nerd alert.

But I must say I unabashedly love "Waterworld". I know it's bad but it's so wonderfully bad I can't look away. I'll watch it any time I see it is on (but I don't own it that would be crazy).

It was a total eyeroll the first time but over the years on cable I find myself glued to it.

Hot Fuzz. No matter how many times I've seen it, I've laughed at something new every time.

Armageddon for me. I will stop to watch any time I see it showing. And despite whatever silliness it has, that movie is just so much fun, and even hits me in the feels with the dad-daughter thing.

The cartoon folks showing up in D&D was pretty cool.

He just fills his movies with so much. There are visual gags all over the place, lines that get references throughout, etc. Both Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz are some of the most well written scripts, they don't waste a single line.

Hot fuzz is one of my top 3 movies of all time. For what it is trying to be it is the perfect movie. There's not a single thing in the entire run time I would change. And every single time I find something new to laugh at.

We gotta mention The World's End, too.

I Think You Should Leave.

We tried this one at home. HATED it. Turned it off in the middle and told my wife "I'm dumber for having watched that."

Then we had a long weekend ski trip and my BIL had it on repeat the whole time. We left quoting it to each other. It's a little bit of a Clockwork Orange effect, but it definitely has grown on me. Season 3 is great.

First time I thought, "what a dumb movie". Saw it while I was deployed, so limited resources meant it was shown a bunch. After about the 10th time it just kept getting funnier and funnier.

The Big Lebowski is sheer greatness from the first viewing, but you guys are right that it never gets any less great not matter how many times you watch it.

I absolutely agree with previous 2 statements. I loved Big Labowski from the start. I hated zoolander in the theaters. 3 months later I was talking to a colleague about it and kept saying, yeah that scene was funny, sure that gag was funny. I rented it that night and absolutely loved it on rewatch.

I will add Swingers. The first time I missed some of the jokes and some of the slang went right over my head. Now it is one of my favorite movies.

Primer

On the 1st viewing you are lost. On the 2nd you can piece it together. On 3+ viewings you can appreciate the writing.
