I had Captain Gus death spoiled for me about 30 mins before it happened. Watched it is college at a friend's house and this hit girl come in and asks " is this the one where Gus dies?"

Also Fry's dog isn't dead. Just still waiting......
Did they ever find her body?
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

She never cried when old Yeller died
She wasn't washed in the blood of the lamb
She never stood up for the star spangled banner
And she wasn't a John Wayne fan

Deets immediately comes to mind. His death hit me harder than Gus because I had more time to prepare for Gus.

For a different, more sensitive-side answer: Beth from Little Women. Her conversation with Jo right before she goes is absolutely heart-wrenching.

Stated already: Ann and Dan

When Spock "died" in TOS in the episode where they went to Vulcan so he could mate. I cried, til he turned out not dead. Tricky Bones!!

Wolf in Stephen King's _The Talisman_

That was Kirk who died, killed by Spock during combat. But the death was faked by McCoy.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Another that maybe wasn't emotional like Old Yeller or something, but in Aliens when the cigar chomping Sgt Apone bought the farm, was like a gut punch. I was surprised they killed off such a likable character so quickly, but I guess from a purely military perspective, having your leader taken out gives rise to the confusion and lack of cohesion with the ineffective Lt. Gorman now in charge.

Dude.

Gorman had already been on TWO drops (one simulated).

Or was it 28 simulated and two actual?

2 actual. Don't recall the simulated count, but 28 sounds right.

True story - I took a management class at A&M where, one day I walk in and there is a projector set up. I remember thinking, what are we watching, Aliens? Yes, that's exactly what we watched that day (not the entire movie over a 1:15 length class). The focus was on managerial styles, with the emphasis on Gorman vs Ripley. And there were actually questions about the movie on the next exam.

Once you learn the truth at his passing....ugh. Legitimately the most brilliantly written (and acted) character of all time across all mediums for me. YA or not.

I was in that class! Well, not that class, per se, but I took that professor.
When I was teaching Business and Professional Speaking, I "borrowed" this for management style techniques.

My daughter is a wall emotionally...she's loving and sweet, but she holds in the feels really well. She broke her toe once stubbing it on a couch corner and held it in. Not even glassy eyes.

When Bingbong died, she cried for the first time at something 'trivial'.

Ford has pushed Lucas to kill Solo in ROTJ, believing the character had no place in a post-war environment. On the TFA DVD commentary, Abrams said it was the first thing he talked to Ford about and made Ford a lot more receptive to reprising the role.

Not sure. I never saw the movie. The book was hard enough for me to read. But it's etched in my brain forever, so I knew without a doubt it was Old Dan & Little Ann in the book.
