I don't remember this one, but I like it. Opening riff sounds a bit "grunge" to me which makes sense for when it was released. Their music holds up much better than most of their contemporaries.

This thread reminds me a lot of listening to 99X/The Rebel Rocker outta Shreveport in the 90s. I didn't have MTV so these may have been more popular than I remember:

Remember which classic 90s comedy soundtrack had this?

Great songs. They'll still get some love on occasion on SXM. Same with Our Lady Peace.

These last two Tripping Daisy posts just scratched my 94/95(?) Stafford Opera House itch. Thanks

Them along with:

Ian Moore

Good ol' Stafford Opera House….

This one is Tier III and should by all rights have remained more obscure but got picked up as the intro to a Nick show. I always dug this tune.

Sxm doesn't go deep enough on Lithium but they've been hitting more (and calling attention to them) in the last few months. Our Lady Peace is one of my faves.

'85 and reached No. 3 on the US charts.

Neither obscure nor timely.

many people on this thread have a very, very odd definition of Obscure and/or Tier 3.

here's a few that I'd throw in:

Athenaeum - What I didn't know
Big Wreck (already mentioned)
Black Lab (already mentioned)
Brother Cane - Got No Shame
Caroline's Spine - Sullivan
Chalk Farm (already mentioned)
Cool For August - Don't wanna be here, Walk Away
Dog's Eye View - Everything Falls Apart
Drain STH - can't remember the single
Finch - can't remember the single for them either
Foam - Rollercoaster
Fountains of Wayne - obviously they had a bigger hit, but doubt too many remember Radiation Vibe or Sink to the bottom from their debut album
Kicking Harold - Kill You
Leroy - Good Time
Mighty Joe Plum - Live Through This (Fifiteen Stories)
Naked - already mentioned
Nonpoint - Circles

i could probably list a bunch more but that's a start, i suppose.

Does Poe count? She had one song iirc. Her brother wrote the super weird book house of leaves.

This was a pretty sultry track, released 2000, probably counts, no real radio play and no follow ups (that I know of):

I'd probably have gone with "Everything" off that album, but Kicking Harold is an excellent shout.

I think the Finch single that got the most attention was Letters to You

Glad someone posted Catherine Wheel - Black Metallic, that was going to be my contribution.

And I don't think Circles was even Nonpoint's biggest hit - they covered In The Air Tonight and it still gets regular airplay on satellite.

And Poe was on the Stir of Echoes soundtrack, so combined with Angry Johnny I'd say that disqualifies her.

Watching that movie the other night though did remind me of this one:

But apparently they absolutely crushed it in Canada.

yes, just listened to it to confirm.

Saw them at The Tap back in the day. Was a super weird stage set up in there.

Might have been, I just remember Letters to You being a single, but don't remember either getting significant airplay. But yeah, that album was pretty solid

I could be crazy, but feel like they might have played with the Exies at that show now that I think about it.

When I got the album I was blown away it was only 2 dudes.
These guys (Local H) opened for Toadies a couple weeks ago, and after all these years, i never realized it was only a duo.

Just like most of the bands listed here (and posters replying) just a bunch of grey haired dudes seemingly still rockin

Other one songers:

The Eels - Novacaine for the Soul (Beautiful freak album got some good action in the 3 disc player)

The Hunger - Vanishing Cream (they still play in Houston often - think some of em own Scout bar?)

Atticus Finch - Forget the name of that one song in 1996

The Nixons - Sister

Seven Mary Three - Cumbersome

Spacehog - In the Meantime

Stroke 9 - Little Black Backpack

Buck-O-Nine
Cowboy Mouth
Silverchair

I'm officially down a rabbit hole now, thanks to this thread.

I'm adding South to the list. Their album "From Here on In" was pretty damn good, though I guess I'm cheating a bit since it dropped in 2001. "Keep Close" would likely be the track people would know.

It was Thomas back in the early/mid 2000s.. I dealt with him a bit when my band played there a few times. They had a San antonio location too.

This is interesting.. some sort of remake/redo I guess.

This one didn't make the 90s (2001ish).. but you could tell people it was a deep track off AIC Dirt and most people wouldn't have been the wiser.

Poe has been (was?) in record label hell and they weren't pleased with that album. She's done more producing and guest stuff with others. Haunted is a freaking killer album, one of my favorite concept albums ever.

Lotta bangers added lately in this thread. 8Stops7 has been in my head for a month or two, glad to see em pop up on here.
